don’t worry, you’ll do great! I had anime-loving classmates too and there’s nothing wrong with it as long as you follow directions. As my non-Western Art history teacher said, institutions constantly pound Western standards/rules of “art” in your face, but that doesn’t mean styles from other cultures are bad. (besides, why do some teachers say cartoons are ok but anime is bad? :v)
Ah, thanks!! ;o;/ And yeah, I guess it’s just important to remember that there’s a place for all art styles somewhere... I’m all for recognizing anime/manga as a real art style (or styles?), but I do get where they’re coming from bc people who start out learning “anime” kinda just skip over anatomy and jump right into cartooning.
In relation to my anime/manga/cartoon roots (?), I feel like my anatomy isn’t “bad”, but I know that when I draw I still use some shortcuts/bad habits that I came up with in high school without even considering how the anatomy works in reality. I’m just worried about how much it’ll show when I try to draw realism vs drawing in my usual style. I kinda mentioned it here with how I’m still feeling the effects of weird habits from high school when I draw heads.... IDK.
One of my friends actually suggested taking the class pass-fail, and I’m really considering it because I don’t want to have the class be the biggest stress on my mind, even if it turns out not to be as bad as I expected. x0x)9
