Oh no, the mass of muscle is talking.
“You just said that out loud.” Snickered Caleb at Zayne’s side. Apparently he’d been so sleep-deprived these past few days that he couldn’t even differentiate between his thoughts and spoken words anymore.
Valko only smiled as Zayne kept staring at his massive chest. “Professor Qi said you could help me out with my biology classes.”
He felt Caleb’s blow to the back of his head and it was as if it had activated his thought process… just a little. “Uh- Yeah- Yes. I’m good at anatomy.” Maybe he deserved a second blow.
“Good. Nice. Do you think we could meet at the library or somewhere else after school? My class has an exam tomorrow on first period and I don’t feel confident. What do you say?”
The second blow actually came, this time from Tara to his right. He should really rethink his whole friend group situation, they were getting too handsy. But let’s be fair, he had been just staring at Valko’s dazzling smile instead of answering the question.
He cleared his throat and pushed his glasses higher over the bridge of his nose. “Sure. The library sounds right.”
“Cool! I’ll come by after classes so we can go together. See ya!” Zayne forced himself to nod and closed his eyes before Valko’s smile blinded him. He should have kept them open, that way he would have seen the other boy trip over his own two feet while rushing out of the classroom to gloat at his classmates.
With wobbly legs, Zayne stood up and announced he was going to the toilet. He needed to desperately clear his head over having a date studying session with the #1 striker on their school football team.
“Do you think he will notice?” Tara sat on Zayne’s desk before Caleb’s.
“Notice what?” The boy handed her one of his precious candies.
“That professor Qi teaches art and not biology.”
Meanwhile, in class 3…

“Stop laughing, it was so shameful!” Valko had his face buried in his hands as he recalled his supposed ‘cool exit’ after asking his crush out for a date, only for him to trip over his own feet and almost face-palming the door on his way out. Sylus at his side just kept laughing.
“You tried to do something you’re not used to,” explained Sylus.
“Asking someone out?”
“Acting cool.”
Valko wanted to punch him in the face.
“Don’t worry, he seems stuck up but he’s actually really nice.” Said Xavier between yawns at his side, he had slept through the whole break. Valko smiled at his friend’s encouragement but it quickly slipped away after he kept talking. “But he might get annoyed that you lied to get him to go on a date with you.”
“Hmmm. He might not even be that smart after all though, since he didn’t mention that professor Qi is in the art department.” Added Sylus only to be interrupted by Xavier.
“Oh, but he is. He took Valko’s first place in every subject after he transferred in.” The smile his friend had was mocking.
“I don’t care about that anymore, I fell in love at first sight after I saw him even if I didn’t know he was the one who had displaced me from my winning streak.”
Sylus sat up as the bell rang, class was about to start but the first period had been annoying enough to get under his skin. “Let me just tell you something that you might want to think about:” Valko straightened up at his friend’s seriousness. “If he didn’t notice you’re scoring just below him on tests, then he might not have any interest in you, at all.”
