Snufit (Super Mario 64)
Interesting how outside of their debut in Super Mario Bros. 2, Snufits are the only Shy Guy/Snifit variant to appear in any mainline Mario game.
Some Mario 64 Friends!
Name: Snifit
Debut: Super Mario Bros. 2
I guess Shy Guys are pretty creepy, if you think about it. A strange, robed figure, wearing an expressionless mask, whose face is entirely a mystery, and from the sounds they make, they sure don’t sound human... but are they spooky? That is probably debatable!
What if the mask was a GAS mask? Those are pretty spooky! And what if they shot bullets made of evil dreams from their mouths? Well... anyone who says that isn’t spooky is a filthy liar!
Snifits first appear in Super Mario Bros. 2, in the dream world of Subcon, so it makes sense that they use nightmares as a weapon. And Subcon confuses me! Mario hears about it in a dream, then finds it again in real life, but then it was a dream all along? I simply do not know!
Just like Shy Guys, Snifits quickly became a staple of the series. But could they possibly come close to the level of pure charm, whimsy, and personality put forth by Shy Guys?
...The answer is yes!
Say what you will about Sticker Star, but it brought us Snifit or Whiffit, the only game show by Snifits, for Snifits! Mario has to win the game show in order to rescue the Wiggler segment who’s watching from the audience and... I guess this game was wackier than we give them credit for.
Name: Snufit
Debut: Super Mario 64
And then there’s Snufit! Only appearing in Super Mario 64 and its remake, they’re basically ghost Snifits. The weird thing is they don’t even appear in spooky areas, but instead in Hazy Maze Cave, which I guess makes a lot of sense for a creature with a gas mask to live. But ghosts probably don’t even need gas masks! They are messing with us! We said “trick or treat” and they chose trick! They treated us to a trick!
i kinda wanna play SMario 64 again
Snufit Figure I commissioned YellerCrakka to make!
