thoughts on midam?
ooo! pro! I have only seen their major episode the one time so I don't have a TON of thoughts about them in canon but they have CHEMISTRY! I love this bizarre, somehow positive relationship. like after all that. them going insular while sam is getting annihilated over and over again. It's very:
I DO need to write a fucked up midam in the cage where adam is dismissive and condescending to sam's pain like 'just submit??? it's easy??' and after they're all out michael is like 'i feel we owe sam somewhat...for what we did to him...' and adam is like 'no we don't. if he'd just submitted he literally would have been fine.' 'with lucifer though...?' [snapping, adam can't let himself think too hard about his own logic because it's strung to his guilt] 'he would have been fine!'. Bc I think that's probably like. that's it. the dynamic. once again there's someone who should have a MAJOR connection and serious conversations with Sam and just plain does not haha.
and also. I do think about transfem adam cracking michael's egg while they're in the cage and then it's yuri. but I need to think about it morrrrre I think I'll write something about it for genderbend week, or maybe do some art of her. Michael trailing through A's memories and experiencing her feminine joy. Transitioning their shared body while in there and refusing to explain when they're busted out.
One thing I have always loved! Is sharing-a-body romance! it's so queer! there has to be compromise and it looks weird to outsiders and they can't do the hallmarks of traditional romance so authors have to really think about romance and what it means to show affection and love and care. and I love adam's sincere just-some-playful-guy energy paired with straight-laced michael. mama's boy vs daddy-issues boy. fuck yeah.

Writer questions! I'd love to know 3, 9 and 15, please. And Happy New year!
Hiya @missviolethunter! Thank you for asking. Happy new year to you.
3. Is there a trope you wouldn’t touch with a ten foot pole?
Reader anything. I tried it twice but it makes me very uncomfortable to both read and write. Second person seems unnatural to me. Invariably the writer will assign characteristics, motives or dialogue that will clash with the actual readers personality. Most second person fics include things like Y/N and other such distancing traits, and that kicks me right out of the story and the narrative. I personally find it a clumsy way of storytelling. Of course there are exceptions! In fact one of my favorite books, Jane Eyre, is written in second person. But I know that I couldn’t pull it off well or convincingly.
9. Which fic has been the hardest to write?
Ha! Anything in the past year. I don’t know what my psychosis is, but I haven’t been able to concentrate or put much effort into Covent Garden Hotel, How the Other Half Lives, or Down with Love. All of these are a jumbled mess inside my head, and can’t get them down on paper. Very frustrating.
Covent Garden Hotel and How the Other Half Lives are difficult for me because they’re more action/mystery. I don’t think my writing is as subtle as it needs to be to pull them off effectively. I love the stories in my head, but I’ve such a problem translating the visuals into words.
Down with Love is difficult from a narrative standpoint. I can’t figure out the best structure for it. First person seems to be the wrong POV, but I adore telling this story in first person. Then all of the chronology of events and the places that both Tom and Kristiane are in.... it’s REALLY hard. I need a dictator... and a translator! Flashbacks also scare the life out of me, and I’m not sure that I can make the timeline clear for readers.
15. If you could choose one of your fics to be filmed, which would you choose?
Without a doubt, The Course of True Love Never Did Run Smooth. I think Tom and Kristiane’s story would work really well as a romantic dramedy, like a 2 to 2.5 hour movie. REALLY well. (If I can pull it together, Down with Love would fit as a sequel.)
But I would also love to see Tom and Abby’s story, their entire arc and their alternate universe, Regarding Abigail fit as an HBO miniseries. Like the Tudors... but modern day obviously.
I’ve already pictured the opening credits in my head for The Course. Stock photos of major spots in New York and London: Empire State Building, Tower Bridge, Times Square, Big Ben and Houses of Parliament, Rockefeller Center, Trafalgar Square. Moving into more intimate settings: a Broadway house (maybe the Lyceum theatre or the Lunt Fontaine or the Brooks Atkinson), the Globe Theatre, Central Park, Hydes Park. Moving even closer in: a dressing room, Borough Market, a dance studio, a souvenier shop, a hotel room. I could go on and on.
I’d love to follow Kristiane arriving at her theatre, warming up and dressing for her show, while it cuts back and forth to Terry rehearsing a dance, taking the tube, entering the Globe, and then to Tom signing a movie contract, appearing at a London awards show of some sort... some kind of red carpet event, and in his library at home.
It’s be so much fun to build that movie and those characters.
Tom and Abby’s opening would be a backstage, out of focus giggling, hiding and hustling to be alone. The drop of blouse. An open belts. Hushed whispers. Fumbling touches. Blurred skin. It’s got that fuzzy warm amber glow to it. I’ve thought about both too much.
Thank you for allowing me to share!
