q’s thoughts on: my secret terius/terius behind me

this was a hidden gem for me. i finished it last night but decided to post it today (mainly because i was too lazy to type it up last night lol) but let’s get started!

i mainly started this drama because of so ji-sub, whom i loved watching in the rom-com oh my venus, but really, i had no expectations for this drama... i was expecting to hate it because generally, i’m not a huge fan of thriller dramas, but this was beautiful. 

so ji-sub plays the role of kim bon, a wanted black agent who was once one of the best agents of the national intelligence service. he lands himself the role of go ae-rin (jung in-sun) ‘s babysitter when her husband dies as a result of witnessing the murder of a political figure. 

the drama balances both the comedic and suspenseful scenes wonderfully, making it light-hearted at the right times, such that the suspenseful scenes were even more so.

i think something i really liked about this drama was the fact that there was no emphasis on romantic relationships. the relationships felt natural (ie. no overdramatised kiss somewhere) and i liked how the screenwriter didn’t force a romantic relationship onto the male and female leads. yes, it was implied, but i feel like that was left completely to the viewer’s interpretations. 

one of my favourite parts of the entire drama was the entire ahjumma group that go ae-rin hangs around. yes, i know they were mostly there for comedic effect, but they really bring out their characters as nosy neighbours who have too much time on their hands despite being busy with their children. 

if there is really one thing that i really didn’t like about the drama, it was the fact that there were SO MANY PRODUCT PLACEMENTS, like subway may be a good friend in many kdramas but i swear, quiznos appeared twice as many times as subway does in another drama, and let’s not forget the huge amounts of ginseng and coffee consumed by the leads... heck, they’re drinking coffee at 3 am in the morning.

for those of you who are contemplating whether to watch it or not, this is a cute drama provided you don’t take the plotline too seriously. 

would i watch it again? probably, if i have absolutely nothing else to watch :p
