Genuinely, how sad must The Beauty be for Evan.

As a person, as an actor, to be placed with such a shittily written character, shittily written excuse for a plot, terrible dialogue, terrible direction, no intimacy coordination, hardly any actual screen time… He literally got no chance to offer this character (Cooper) any depth whatsoever. He tried! I do think he tried. But I’ve been in theatrical productions where I didn’t have proper direction or much for my character to do and I ended up with the same flat, shallow performance we got for Cooper.

I love Evan and I love the character of Cooper but compared to most of Evan’s characters, he is EXTREMELY poorly written. He’s flat, he doesnt emote almost at all besides rage and very small smiles (and don’t say that’s his character because it’s very much not, as we know he’s a joker and fun guy), he has no depth as far as backstory or future aspirations. He is a completely dead character in terms of actual personality.

Also. So incredibly out of (his poorly written) character to backtrack on embracing imperfections. “The old you was perfect and so are you” ?? What happened to ‘imperfections make you stronger’??? Bro? Why is it suddenly better to have the disease through sexual transmission than just simply getting the shot and getting their mission done?? Why is suddenly SO shallow.

And then the sex scene has one of my favorite songs trying to make this seem like a wholesome/mutually decided/intimate moment, when they’ve been having sex like this for the entire show already. There was zero emotional weight behind it because Jordan didn’t change in her character at all. Besides “ily” one time and in my experience that means almost nothing if your actions don’t match your words.

Anyway I am pretty disappointed by this whole thing, not even counting how bad everyone else’s acting has been this whole time… Poor Evan and poor Cooper, RIP what could have been a great show.
