In her daydream, Percy’s hair is soft between her fingers and she manages to fit her legs on either side of his in the driver’s seat of his car. The steering wheel touches the base of her spine, just above his hands, and his kisses are hot and breathy and he feels so good-
Someone pokes her side. She looks over at Hazel who flicks her wide eyes at the front of the room.
“Miss Chase.” Apparently it’s not the first time Miss Dodds had said her name. “Are you with us?”
“Yes.”
Miss Dodds purses her lips. Annabeth wonders why it is that some people trigger such strong feelings of anger with the smallest expressions.
“Would you care to summarise to the class what I had been saying?”
Alright, Annabeth may not have heard any of what she’d been saying for the last ten minutes, but she knows this play inside out and she’s been listening vaguely to her teacher’s interpretation of it for the past two weeks. So she can make an educated guess.
“You were telling the class that Medea’s actions create a poor role model for women and are inherently a step backwards for feminism.”
The class is dead silent. Annabeth knows she should stop. There’s a vein in her teacher’s forehead which is starting to throb unattractively, a warning sign to stop. But she never has been good at doing what she’s told.
“Which, frankly, reeks of academic self importance and completely ignores the original context of the play. You failed to acknowledge that this play can be viewed as a sympathetic exploration of the disadvantages of being a woman in a predominantly patriarchal society. A concept which we can certainly still identify with today. However, I don't think it's entirely fair to criticise a piece of literature written two and a half thousand years ago for not being progressive enough.”
The vein looks ready to pop. But Annabeth isn't quite done.
“Why not just burn the play in front of the class. It would be more educational at this point.”
Hi could I get a ignis x reader seniaro where he shows the reader affection by makimg her a recipe or making her food with more care than the guys. With lots of fluff and ignis love xx
There it is, finally! ♥I hope you like it~
The sun had already set when you and the group arrived and the haven and made camp. It had been a long day, full of hunts. You all need money if you wanted to buy weapons, and chasing monsters and creatures was the best and fastest way to do so. With a moan, you let yourself fall on a chair that Gladiolus brought, thanking him with a smile when he passed you a flask full of fresh water. Noctis and Prompto too showed their tiredness with the deep yawns they took, causing yourself to cover your mouth while you yawned back.
“Tiring, huh?”, teased Gladio, but his voice wasn’t as bright as always. The only thing that prevented him from taking his seat was a fully operating Ignis, preparing the camp for the dinner everyone was expecting. While rushing from one side of the haven to the other – ‘He really can’t stay still’, you thought with a smile – he stopped for a second behind you, softly touching your shoulders and giving them a brief massage. The sudden presence of his near you made your heart rush in your chest, a quivering bird chasing freedom.
“We could really use some rest now, I assume,” he said, giving a slight stroke on your cheekbone, right in a moment when anyone wasn’t paying attention to him. You held your breath. Please, Six, make that I don’t faint right now! Maybe it had been an accidental contact, but maybe…
Ignis had always been your favourite among the boys, and even if you never admitted it, you were sure the others – at least Gladio – knew about it. Gladio had caught you several times staring at Ignis, blinking at you with a smirk that said everything. You always blamed yourself for being so indiscreet, but what could you do? Ignis was, at your eyes, the most handsome man you’ve ever seen.
You sent a silent word of thanking to the night and the moon, which didn’t show that night, for they covered your blushing cheeks from sight. Nobody was looking at you, though.
Even if Gladiolus would push you to tell him everything you feel, you couldn’t find the courage. How could you, after all? You were just an ordinary girl, at least no more special than many others were, while he was, well, Ignis Scientia.
Lost in your thoughts you didn’t notice that the fire was lit, and dinner had begun to be served. Gladiolus opted for sitting down, that night, leaving Ignis with all the inconveniences of the case. He didn’t seem to mind, though.
“Yu-huu! Finally, I was starving!” cried an over excited Prompto, showing his cutlery in the air before throwing himself into the meal, a rich plate of curry rice. The others muttered a suffocated and tired “Enjoy” as their dish appeared in front of their eyes. You looked at them with a smile. They were crazy, but you feel they were family to you, and you liked it. The sound of their tired but joyful voices warmed your heart.
“There you are, milady”. You found Ignis’s hand hovering in front of your eyes, as he put the dish in front of you on the table. You lifted your eyes to meet his smile, bright and gentle even in the dark.
“Many thanks, sir,” you replied as he took his seat right next to you, smiling slightly, but his eyes darkened a little.
“I am afraid I am no knight,” he said lowering his voice, maybe hoping you couldn’t hear him, but it wasnot the case. You sensed all his hidden insecurities crawling through his voice. You’d never admit it, but staring at him so much made you notice his fears, and one of them was, to your great surprise, being afraid of not being good enough, not being able to grow stronger enough to protect all of them, especially his Prince. You couldn’t cheer him directly - how could you explain the fact that you knew him so well? – but a little phrase could be what he needed, at times. You sure wouldn’t expect your mind to trick you.
“You are a knight to me,” you whispered, making sure only him could hear you. You soon regretted it. What the hell where you thinking while opening your mouth?! You could see Ignis wincing and giving you a shy smile, before falling silent and apparently focusing all his attention on the dish in front of him. Unfortunately, lost in your own embarrassment, you didn’t notice him losing his usual composure.
“Hey! Why does Y/N always get the best cuts?” Prompto shouted, breaking the little dream you were losing yourself in by pointing abruptly at your dish. Ignis turned away, fixing his impeccable glasses on his nose. Now that you noticed, you meal was way richer than the others’ one. It indeed was curry rice, but it had a piece of fine steak placed at side, surrounded by the freshest vegetables. You looked as confused as Prompto did, while Gladiolus and Noctis kept eating their portion in absolute calm.
“Don’t question,” Noctis answered laconically.
“She’s a special lady,” Gladio added, leaving a disappointed Prompto finish slowly his dinner, which didn’t look so rich, after all. In response, Ignis stood up with his empty dish, ready to be washed. All you could do to avoid the other see your gleeful smile was lowering your head and silently thanking Ignis with all your heart.
“Mind if I lend you a hand?” You approached Ignis, your hands behind your back, while he was immersed in his work. Noticing the guys’ exhaustion, he didn’t even ask for help when the moment came, and decided to take care of all the washing by himself. No surprise here, of course. His kindness stunned you, his manners reflected a long gone courtesy, but he wasn’t afraid of bursting his heart out in laughter. Hearing your voice, he tilted his head to send you a warm smile.
“There is no need. I can do it while you rest,” he answered. After a brief moment of hesitation, you took a towel and started to wipe the wet dishes, putting them in their proper place. In the near distance, you could hear the others play King’s Knight together.
“It’s easier if we work together. We’ll finish in no time like this,” you chirped, and he thanked you with a bow of his head. The silence fell between you, as you could feel your heart pumping in your ears. The night was quiet, refreshed by a gentle breeze. You asked the Six for strength and courage to ask Ignis a question that had been buzzing in your head for the whole evening.
“So… What was it all about at dinner?” you finally asked with a faint voice. You could feel your own heart pressing against your chest. He didn’t reply. Instead, as you both finished your task, he took a little bowl from the refrigerator under the camp kitchen.
“For you,” he just stated, watching your reaction. You moved a step forward, curious. You looked inside it, and your eyes started to gleam, your smile grew bigger and bigger.
“I have to apologize. I was hoping I could prepare you a proper dessert, but time seemed to be my enemy,” he added, but it didn’t matter for you.
“Strawberries! How did you know?” You looked at him, clapping your hands with glee before jumping at his neck and giving him a big kiss on his cheek. Knowing the others weren’t paying attention at you made you feel bold and daring.
“It’s quite easy to understand you,” he giggled, embracing you back. He then led you at the edge of the haven, and you both sit there, with your legs hovering over that pulsing obscurity. You knew you were safe there, for holy runes protected the haven and no creature dared to approach that place, but you felt a chill running down your spine. You moved a little to feel Ignis’s body’s warm. Ignis took off his jacket to depose it over your shoulder. You thanked him with a smile, and ate the first strawberry. Aaah, delicious!, you thought with joy. Strawberries were your favourite fruit, but they were quite rare to be found outside Insomnia.
“So, how did you know?” you repeated, eating another one.
“Well, it took a fairly amount of time for me to understand you so well,” he started, and your chest hurt. Wait… Could it mean he had been watching you as much as you had been watching him? How…?
Your head went dizzy all of a sudden. You knew you had always been in love with him. That was the actual truth. You were irreparably, absolutely lost in his soul, in his caring heart, in his smart mind. He was the most handsome man you had ever seen, and his courteous attitude made him look even more special and attractive to your eyes. But you weren’t. You actually thought your love was a lost battle, for your self-critics esteemed you “NOT WORTHY”.
In that total state of confusion, you find yourself turning to face him, to find an answer in his eyes. In that moment, the entire universe fell silent.
There he was, surrounded by the shadows of darkness, but shining like the sun, surrounded by millions of stars. His smile was the purest one you could ever imagine. Ignis lifted a hand to touch softly your cheek, and then stroke your hair with tenderness. His lips parted slightly to speak, and you felt your heart melt and a tear rolling down your face as he did.
