Recently got back into doing gijinka Kirby design, and while this isn't the first thing I drew because of that, it's definitely the first thing I'm posting to my social media accounts.

Kin List

I didn't fully understand kin stuff until very recently and I'm still very much trying to work it out, so here's my Kin list as best as I can tell. Some I'm not as connected to as others, but I'm not sure.

Sonic can speak several languages, perhaps not fluently, but enough to have a conversation. Don't ask him about specific words in some languages, but in most cases, he at least mostly knows what's being said.

His top languages are Swahili, Japanese, English, Amharic, Arabic, Spanish, Mandarin Chinese, Russian, Taiwanese, and Tagalog. He knows more languages than that, but those are the ones he can have full conversations in, including puns, wordplay, and idiom usage.

He doesn't usually make a mistake, but sometimes, he'll start speaking in another language if he can't think of a word. Or, if he's thinking about a concept in one language but someone speaks to him in another, he'll speak in the language he was thinking in.

For example, Rouge discovered this one of the mornings Sonic actually slept over.

She snickered when he came from the direction of Shadow's bedroom, eyes mostly closed and quills in disarray as he yawned behind his hand. He was wearing one of the T-shirts he left over at their place.

"Hey Blue, rough night?"

"Mmh...hapana, niko sawa."

She blinked as he pulled the fridge open, his ears flattening a bit as the light shined in his eyes.

"Nililala kirefu zaidi kuliko kawaida. Haifanyika mara nyingi." A chuckle. "Lakini maisha—"

He turned his head a little to give her a brief look, but he must've processed that she was staring like she didn't understand what he was saying. His ears quickly perked up, eyes widening.

"—that way doesn't it?"

They stared at each other until they both start laughing.
