on the final stretch of ats and fucking hell the buffyverse hypocrisy of how vampires with a soul/without a soul are treated and presented to the audience is ridiculous. yeah s4 is a fucking mess i fought the urge to fast forward through a few times but bro you cannot make me believe that angels friends are not conflicted about the fact that extracting his soul reduces him to a fucking animal and are able to continue business as usual within a few hours, no hiccups. but spikes sins are there to remind him of in perpetuity, the most human vampire who genuinely loved his mother, loved druscilla, was able to fall in love with a human and seek out a soul not have one forced upon him, apparently doesn’t deserve as much as a mention of absolution. the soul is but an accessory, as an undead being you retain some subjective morality and thats whats actually important, not ‘you don’t get it it’s different because he’s ensouled’
