Where Nosaka and Ichihoshi live in a world where everyone is born with at least one pair of wings located somewhere on their body.
Everyone has the capability to fly no matter where their wings are but for Nosaka and Ichihoshi, who have both lost one of their own wings during their childhood, they find it near impossible to take to the skies.
While Nosaka works diligently to build up the strength in his one wing, Ichihoshi does the opposite. Instead of trying to fly, he watches Nosaka from the sidelines and gives him pointers on how he can improve his chances of being able to fly again.
Nosaka tries to get Ichihoshi to practice with him on multiple occasions but sadly Ichihoshi likes to make excuses as to why he can't (he really wants to learn how to fly again - he's just scared to try) But when a strong wind pulls Nosaka in the direction of a giant ravine with no safe landing one afternoon, Ichihoshi let's go of his fears in order to save Nosaka!
It's at that moment where they're holding onto each other and unconsciously flapping their wings at the same time do they discover that they're able to fly together as one... ((Ichihoshi starts to practice flying solo some time after because as much fun as it is to fly with Nosaka, he wants to prove that he truly isn't scared anymore)).
