Oh! Tumblr exists! Here's an update on what kind of soap-y shenanigans I've been up to. Big pop up events, and now I have an etsy!

Coming this Friday, the 28th at 8am, is our Fruit Basket collection full of summery fruity bar soaps! Next up is Peach and Apple.

Peach is scented in Peach Nectar. Described as top notes of rich amaretto, banana, and lime fold into a juicy heart of peach, mango, and papaya, mellowed by green leaves. A base of tonka beans supports the juicy, fruity, and fresh notes.

Apple is scented in Macintosh Apple. Described as smelling just like the fruit!

Leonarda, the Soap Maker Serial Killer

Italy’s first female serial killer is Leonarda Cianciulli. She’s a baby born from a rape on April 18, 1894. Later on, she became pregnant 17 times but lost 13 of her children either due to miscarriage or illness before they reached ten years of age. She eventually went to see a fortune teller, a travelling Romani woman, who did nothing to quell her fears of a curse.

“In your right hand I see prison,” the fortune teller told her. “In your left a criminal asylum.”

Labouring under the curse she felt was put on her by her mother, and the Romani fortune teller’s prediction, Leonarda Cianciulli became highly superstitious. When her son, Giuseppe, told her in late 1939, that he was going to join the Italian Army, Cianciulli turned to the one thing that she believed would keep her son safe – human sacrifice.

Three victims are Virginia Cacioppo, Faustina Setti and Clementian Soavi who were all killed using an axe. Their dead bodies were used by Leonarda in making cakes, cookies and soap which are distributed to the unsuspecting public.

Some items used for the murder are displayed in a museum in Rome.
