Chiseling through 15 lbs or more of organic unrefined fair trade cocoa butter. Literally chiseling with a chisel and hammer. This is the beginning of the soap base. I’m hoping to fill up enough buckets to make over 2,000 bars of soap by next week. It starts with the cocoa butter, then shea butter , coconut oil , and then the carrier oils . Chiseling out the cocoa butter and coconut oil in the winter takes some 💪. For years I treated my body like a machine and always had the strength to power through without issue. Last summer we caught covid in the backyard with family for just a few minutes. Truth be told , I feel like my body is still recovering cause everything is harder to do now , including chiseling this cocoa butter. I know a lot of you have been walking into our shop lately and been disappointed to find that we’re out of soaps and so many other products. So am I. I just can’t make my body act like a machine anymore and #covidisabitch . Have faith , I’ll get through this. Hopefully I return to my normal stamina soon. Sometimes people ask what they can do to help. Just keep supporting our local shop. The more support we get , the more help we can afford to hire . Until then , it’s just me making the soap. When we get those shelves loaded with soaps again , we’ll have a sale and celebrate! #soaperslife (at Purring Buddha) https://www.instagram.com/p/CMA9O9qhHgu/?igshid=1oewnu670edub
