You don't need to have prior knowledge of the Borderlands universe or the first three games' plots, but it's help for the cameos. The writing is really well done and all the characters are likeable in TFTBL, you should totally try it!

Title: Letters
Pairing: Gajeel x Levy from Fairy Tail
Word count: 1,027
For: soberslender
Summary: during that one year only letters could keep them occupied.
A part of Levy knew that Gajeel wouldn’t keep to his“promise” in writing her back, that it would be a one sided kind of things outside him telling what his new address was now; but of course she didn’t mind it, just having contact with him and being able to tell him what she was doing was enough. So imagine her surprise when before she was even settled into the small apartment she was renting in Crocus to prepare for her journey ahead that she got the first letter from Gajeel.
That he was the one to start writing to her.
His handwriting was messy and big, it screamed Gajeel all over it in the few short lines that he sent to her but even so Levy couldn’t stop the huge grin that appeared on her face as her skin flushed pink:
Levy
Just seeing how ya are. Arrived here and all is good, Lily went on his own training we plan to meet up in a few months.
See ya
Gajeel
It wasn’t romantic or filled with his longing for her or how lonely he was but Levy knew Gajeel wasn’t like that and thus she didn’t expect it but it didn’t stop the hammering of her heart and how her face burned as well as ached from the smile on her face. The small action of him writing before her, and even writing at all! Spoke more than any kind of simple sweet nothings could ever.
So before anything else she rummaged through her bag, pulling a pen and paper out and began her own letter, which was full of more detail and longer than his. But this is how they were, opposites in so many ways that fit so perfectly with each other. Levy understood what he was trying to say and do when he wrote to her, and it made the small mage feel like she was flying that the weight of worry and sadness lifted from her.
During the months his letters became longer, though of course no less Gajeel than the first one was. It was fun reading what he was doing, or what people annoyed him or how he got into a fight with the guy he was working for before he even knew that was his boss! Her heart stopped though as she came to the end of the letter, in shaking writing more than before he informed her that he would be in the town the letter would be coming too even before the letter arrived.
That he wanted her to wait for him even if it did.
Which caused the blue hair mages heart to drop into her stomach like a cold rock, her body burning as she jumped up running to the train station; it had only been six months since they last saw each other and so much had changed for her since then. Her normally short hair had grown much longer, it was now covering her guild mark almost, she had to pull it up into a messy bun at times since she still was not yet used to it, of course she was more toned as well, her skin tanned from the training she did outside as well the bags under her eyes from staying up late to read.
Levy panted as she reached the wooden platform, the train was stopped and only a few people left the train, which was expected for being so late at night. Maybe she was wrong, maybe he changed his mind! So much can change in just a few days, weeks, or months. That’s something Levy had learned very hard the last year or even few years if you counted the ones she missed. But she stood there her skin developing goose bumps as the wind blew, it was just early spring now but still too cold for the tank top and shorts she was wearing.
Then she saw him.
Gajeel looked taller; if that could even be possible, his long thick hair was now chopped off up to his ears. It was so strange to see as her brown eyes drank in this new form….this new Gajeel. The air caught in Levy’s throat as she just watched him, her blue hair blowing into her face as it came out while she was running, and then in that moment he finally looked her way staring at her.
“Gajeel!” she yelled out as she ran to him, heart pounding as her chest burned while her cheeks ached from smiling so much, and it seems like something also snapped into him as he ran towards her. And in moments, seconds it seemed Levy was wrapped up into his strong, warm arms her face smooched into his chest that she could hear and almost feel his hammering hard, his calloused hands shifting through her hair as he held her tightly.
Gajeel was a man of few words as the hug finally broke his face softer than she has ever really seen it, or maybe it was the distance that made her notice how different he was. While slowly his face came closer to hers and finally, like a fantasy or scene in a book come true his chapped lips touched hers.
Levy didn’t mind as she laid her head on his chest, tracing the new marks and scars that weren’t there before, her head airy and cloudy as he hummed and played with her hair. For a moment Levy felt she could pretend that nothing changed as she closed her eyes listening to the slow pounding of his heart, her skin drinking in the warmth of his skin.
“I’ll write.” His said softly in his gruff voice which Levy just smiled, snuggling into him.
They could do this, just a few more months, they can do this.
“I missed you.”
“Me too.”
Letters sometimes weren’t enough when all you craved was the warmth and feel of his heart, but they had and were going to be.
soberslender reblogged your post Assistance Required - Eidolon Name and added:
Hocus is good, or Sherington. Classy. Duchess is too cliche, but Jellybean could be good for a goof. My summoner’s...
I think I'm leaning more and more towards Hocus. I was considering the idea that he may have first summoned it when he was much younger and more capricious, hence the sillier name. But Hocus just seems to fit better.
I had to go and Google 'girallon', but I can totally see why you'd want one of those on your side. Looks like a very hefty beast. Does it carry any weapons?
#20, little talks. SoMa. Also, you take a break from writing BY writing? Hardcore.
I’m totally hardcore, I know. Pfff. I just need to get my creative juices flowing a bit again! I’ve hit a wall with where I want to go with ResBang, but I don’t want to lose my motivation!

Her favorite times were at home over dinner with Soul.
Most of the time they were both busy. Maka would either do physical training or mentor new weapon-meister pairs when Soul was doing Death Scythe business, and when they weren’t solo they were off saving the world together. Resonating was intimate in its own way, and swinging Soul’s weapon form around was physical contact in the most technical of terms, but the chances to simply be were few and far between.
Food brought them together.
Between bites of lasagna or take-out Chinese, little conversations flourished. He would poke fun at her for getting into arguments with Ox, she would harrumph at the memory of his fresh shipment of fanmail, and they mutually treasured those moments. There wasn’t a monster to fight off, save for Blair seeking attention, nor were there political matters to mind. They just were, and those moments were precious.
