'Big Brother': New Twists and the First Transgender Houseguest
Big Brother 17 premiered Wednesday night and the 98-day reality competition kicked off with three new twists, a potential showmance, and the show’s first transgender houseguest.
As part one of the two-night premiere, seven new houseguests moved in to the newly tricked-out BB house (a see-through floor by the HOH room!). When Audrey, a self-described “Georgia Peach,” told the houseguests that she is the first transgender person to appear on Big Brother, their initial response was supportive. “You look amazing!” declared Shelly, the self-described “Puma” (that is, a “Cougar” who’s in her 30s).
Once everyone was settled, the Chenbot told the houseguests about two major twists: the Battle of the Block is back (boo!), and something called “BB Takeover,” in which new twists are revealed each week. Meanwhile, BB is also reviving the “Twin Twist” from Season 5, in which two identical-twin houseguests will secretly switch in and out of the house unbeknownst to the other players. Does anyone remember twins Adria and Natalie from Season 5? No? Ooof, this doesn’t bode well.
Big Brother airs Wednesdays, Thursdays, and Sundays at 8 p.m. on CBS.
