I was going to do a post lambasting SocialAI, that stupid app Michael Sayman just released where users are provided an openly and utterly bot-populated fake social media platform to interact with.
1) He only did this as a self-promotional troll to get meetings with VC goons, who are perpetually impressed by any new thing that is robots they own firing advertising directly into sad people's brains;
2) This guy is already a techbro dipshit who waxes philosophic about how AI based on stolen content is the Ultimate Solution to all of life's problems, so creating something like this is, sadly, merely the next logical step;
3) No one will seriously use this;
4) ...Except maybe Boomers, who will think these hot girls really are in their area, and are genuinely turned on by incoherent racism. But at least with this, they can't send them $40,000 in phone cards;
5) But in 6 months we will absolutely see a dozen of these that ARE specifically designed to do that. They already do it with zombie dating sites. The era of fake social media apps designed 100% for pig-butchering is upon us! Thanks, Mike!
6) It actually might not be a bad idea to get your parents and grandparents tricked into using what is otherwise a totally bot-based platform. That way they can make asses of themselves in an enclosed cul-de-sac where the only harm being done is to them, via tremendous loneliness.
7) Which is sad. But they're also inappropriately horny racists and the rest of us aren't obligated to put up with their apparent innate need to do that, nonstop, all the time. So I don't know how you fix this.
8) ...Besides get them to take up hobbies offline. My dad fixes model trains for money now. My mom still wants to leave him. But at least he isn't screaming anymore about conspiracy theories he heard from some Far Right golfing YouTuber.
