Social Location (24th Feb ‘18)

Some images from my folio 1 outstanding part 2 of the Social brief, which I had only completed the studio half of initially, due to having issues with everyone being in the same place at the same time, available to pose, and for me to do the shoot.

I chose Pollok Park as my location - not only is it close to me, but it is also a very picturesque park with classic architecture, e.g. the Pollok House as shown behind my models in image 1, and I wanted to capture a family essence in this kind of environment.

As much as good weather is something to be pleased about - mainly on the models’ part - for a photographer, taking portraits in bright, sunny conditions can be problematic, and create unfortunate lighting, whether that be flare, or harsh shadows paired with extreme highlights on the face.

Due to these conditions, I used just a reflector for this shoot, and this was already harsh enough on my model’s eyes, without using speedlights. I used this to fill in any shadows over my model’s faces, and this alone already did a fair job of doing so.
