"No one is born ugly, we're just born in a judgemental society." -Kim Namjoon I'm overweight. This is not said because I want people to comment here with fake "oh no! You look perfect!" It's a fact. My BMI is higher than recommended. And I want to lose weight, not because I want to have the perfect figure (something I believe is a relative term) but because I don't want to develop all those diseases we study about related to obesity. But this post isn't about that. This post is about all those girls who are perfectly healthy who starve themselves because they think they're fat. I don't blame them. Society has made us girls think we're too fat, or too dark, or too ugly since we were little. And we are so used to seeing ourselves like that, we are so used to trying to live up to society's unachievable standards that we still consider ourselves too fat, too dark, too ugly even when others tell us otherwise. People don't realize how toxic this is. I've seen people lose weight to unhealthy levels and still think they need to lose more because their body doesn't have model proportions. It can't! Everyone's body is different. I can't expect to be model thin because my genes won't allow that. But girls are set such an unachievable standard that it's always a cause of stress and depression when we can't get there. I don't know if we can reprogram a life's worth insecurities but I hope we can be better for the coming generations. I hope we can teach them to love their bodies and themselves the way they are and I hope we, as a society, learn to accept bodies of all sizes and skin of all colors and realize that every one of us is beautiful in their own way. #thoughts #beautystandards #societypressures #foodforthought #eatingdisorders #genderdiscrimination #feminism https://www.instagram.com/p/BxikfqYgrh6/?igshid=1jv81qds57sk5
