Aurora felt tears well up in her eyes as her brother stormed angrily out of the castle infirmary. The door slammed shut, a sound that made the younger Parrino flinch uncharacteristically. She shuddered and turned her back to it to sit down on one of the infirmary beds, cursing fate for having thrown them into the castle at the same time today. Cursing fate for making her know this information. It was going to eat her from the inside out. Her hands shook and a single tear ran down her cheek as she closed her eyes and tried desperately to compose herself.
This wasn’t real. This wasn’t true. Vittorio wouldn’t have done something so stupid and reckless and even if he did… there was no way he would get caught for it… would he?
There were voices on the other side of the door now but Aurora couldn’t hear or understand them well with the sound of her own sniffing. Suddenly the door opened again but the footsteps that came towards her were far lighter and clinked lightly with heels. Out of the corner of Aurora’s eye appeared a fiery red head.
The weak bed sunk underneath the extra weight as Sofia sat down beside her. The queen remained silent for a moment before finally speaking, her voice concerned and gentle. ‘… Tell me how to make it better.’
Aurora exhaled deeply. “ — Thank you Sof- … Your Majesty,” she murmured shakily, sighing as she briefly looked up at the ceiling - anything to prevent anymore tears from falling. “But I don’t think this is something that anyone can help with… You know how our brothers are. They make some unfixable mistakes.”
