What advice would you give to a 20something soft dom?

At 20something you're probably just starting out! Here's what I wish I knew when I first started:

You should meet other kinky people irl if you can. For me, this meant joining FetLife and finding events in my city. Meeting other doms is invaluable as a new dom, watching them can give you ideas for your own style. This is one of the most intimidating steps for newbies, but it's 1. Very important and 2. Really not that scary.

If you do go to IRL events, don't expect to play with anybody your first time or even the first few times. This is a good thing and helps take the pressure off! Mingle, watch others, listen to them.

If you like the look of something--a toy, a piece of clothing, a tool, ropes--ask before touching! Kinky people are usually eager to show off their fancy gear, so don't be scared to ask! Ask how to use it if you aren't sure, adding some practical knowledge to your arsenal.

Kink is often focused on the trappings; toys, leathers, cuffs, impact tools. Don't worry about those too much when just starting out. Your toy collection will grow with time.

Safety should always be a priority!! There should be ways to ensure the quick release of any bound person, to extinguish fire if it is involved in any way (even just candles), if you or your sub have special medical needs there should be needed supplies nearby, etc. Think to yourself, "If the worst happens, how can I ensure everyone's safety?" You can't always control things. For example, if you are tying someone up and they have a panic attack, untying a series of complicated knots takes time you don't have--EMT shears are faster and should be nearby.
