Clanky is a nervous young Dalek mutant residing within a standard golden casing, uniquely identified by a single gold star decal affixed to the dome. Unlike conventional Daleks, he is docile, timid, and has a notable lack of coordination. Clanky frequently struggles with steering, often colliding with obstacles and issuing apologetic sounds afterward.
He was first encountered during post-conflict cleanup in a disused warehouse on the outskirts of London. UNIT field agents discovered the casing inactive, wedged sideways in a pile of abandoned machinery. Initial scans indicated faint life signs, and upon manual opening, the mutant revealed no resistance, only nervous vocalisations resembling soft “chirps.”
Transported to UNIT secure labs, he displayed no hostile intent and quickly imprinted upon supervising personnel. After evaluation, Kate Lethbridge-Stewart authorised non-combatant classification and approved adoption into a supervised domestic environment.
Clanky has had all weaponry systems permanently disconnected, eliminating any offensive capability. Unlike standard Daleks, he demonstrates no aggression, instead vocalising polite phrases such as “please” and “thank you” in place of hostile commands. He emits soft, cheerful noises when calm, and though his lack of coordination often results in frequent collisions, he will immediately apologise in a subdued tone. He displays strong attachment to his caretakers, enjoys companionship, and responds positively to gentle encouragement, particularly when read to or spoken to kindly.
With weaponry decommissioned, Clanky poses no offensive capacity. Primary risks are limited to minor property damage due to steering malfunctions. His star insignia has been recognised as a permanent identifier within UNIT archives, and he is considered an anomaly within Dalek-kind.
