Yuji itadori doesn’t realize he’s love-drunk until everyone else points it out.
it’s little things at first.
like how he suddenly forgets what he was saying whenever you walk into the room. how he’ll start a sentence, see you, and then just — pause. blinking, smiling like his brain rebooted.
“you were saying?” megumi reminds him.
“…wait what-? ”
nobara groans. “this is painful to watch.”
because the moment you sit next to him, Yuji’s entire attention shifts.
he leans toward you without noticing. laughs at things that aren’t even that funny. and whenever you say his name? his head snaps up immediately like you just called a very excited dog.
“yeah??”
“yuji, i literally just asked if you wanted snacks.”
“oh. yeah. yes. snacks are great.”
he turns pink the second he realizes how eager he sounded.
but the worst part is how soft he gets around you.
normally yuji is loud, energetic, bouncing off the walls — but when you’re tired or quiet, he automatically matches you. his voice lowers, movements slower, like he’s afraid of disturbing you.
one evening after training, you’re sitting on the dorm steps rubbing your sore arms.
yuji notices immediately.
“hey,” he says softly, plopping down beside you.
before you can say anything, he gently takes your hands and starts rubbing small circles over your palms — something he saw athletes do once.
“that helps the soreness,” he mumbles, cheeks a little pink. “i think.”
you stare at him.
because he’s concentrating so hard. brows furrowed. treating your hands like they’re the most important thing in the world.
megumi walks past, sees the scene, and sighs.
“he’s completely gone.”
yuji doesn’t even hear him.
he’s too busy smiling when you squeeze his hand back.
I guess he really is maybe a little too love drunk..

Pairing: Itadori x Fem!Reader
Warnings: big time fluff, kissing
Summary: Your relationship with Yuuji does a spaztic 180°. But like, in a good way.
Your brain was at it again. It just wouldn't let you sleep until you had run through every possible outcome three hundred times. Being best friends with Yuuji since grade school was awesome; he was the most loyal friend and was even close with your family since you had practically grown up together.
Moving to Japan had been really hard on you, particularly since you had moved from an entirely different country. You were the only kid in class who didn't know the language, and it didn't help that you were a shy child. But none of that had ever mattered to Yuuji.
He was the very first kid to try and talk to you, and the only kid who repeatedly tried to be your friend even through the language barrier when you were still learning Japanese. Through the years, Yuuji even made it his personal mission to learn as much as possible about your own family and traditions.
So really, how could you not totally fall for the guy? He was caring, dedicated, and also intensely good looking. A total triple threat. And though you loved all these things about Yuuji, it made the prospect of wrecking your friendship with him truly scary to you.
He had never shown any real sign of liking you in a romantic way, and even though you knew this hard truth, your own feelings were growing way too strong to ignore. The worst case scenario played out in your head every night-
You would finally buck up the courage to somehow confess to him, and he would shoot you down. Not only that, but Yuuji would be so uncomfortable knowing that you felt differently about one another that he wouldn't want to keep hanging out with you. He wouldn't want to be your loveable, loyal friend that you had grown so close to.
How much longer could you go on like this? You had recognized your crush on Yuuji years ago, but you also recognized that at this point you weren't being fair to yourself or your heart. You at least owed it to yourself to just tell Yuuji right? It wasn't like anything had to happen or like he had to accept your feelings.
You shook your head clear of those thoughts, and rolled over to where your phone was charging on your bedside table. Taking a look at the time, you groaned realizing it was already one in the morning. Friday had come too soon, and your weekly Friday night sleepover with Yuuji was now your most dreaded test of courage.
-
Some people get butterflies in their stomach when they're nervous. Some people have to pee a lot. Others feel physically sick to their stomachs. You had all those symptoms but magnified tenfold as you sat on a stool in Yuuji's bathroom.
Weekly hair care was a key part of every Friday night sleepover, and Yuuji took it very seriously. He looked up all the proper oils, creams, conditioners and protective styles that worked best with your hair's particular curl pattern.
Now, as Yuuji stood behind you with oil in hand, he was close enough that you could smell him. Those butterflied became elephants stamping around in your stomach, and your nerves felt frayed like the end of a roughly abused phone charger. The electricity was licking up and down your back where Yuuji's chest was practically up against you.
"Ya know, I've been getting kinda worried about you lately. Is there something you wanted to talk about?" Shit he was good. He always knew your every mood by just looking at you.
"HUh! I'm good- I-I mean theres nothing in particular going on?"
"Well don't state it like a question, that only makes me worry more silly"
"Don't make fun of me! I just wasn't expecting you to ask me something like that out of the blue is all!"
Watching him through the mirror, Yuuji promptly rolled his eyes but gave a warm laugh, just like always, in response to your odd reaction. Gently placing his hands on either side of your jaw, his rough fingertips curled to the underside of your chin. Tilting your head back, he looked directly into your eyes now, his face perfectly aligned above yours.
For an intense moment, your eyes locked and everything out of focus faded away. The quiet in your mind was louder than you had ever heard it before, and above all the noise, you could hear Yuuji’s gentle, bated breath that had caught in his throat.
Your own hands reached out with a mind of their own and held Yuuji’s handsome face still as your body moved upwards to softly plant your lips on his.
It was brief, but the warmth of his mouth against yours had you snapping back into reality. Pulling your hands and head away from him, your palm came up to cover your mouth in slight shock over what you had just done ever so impulsively.
What the fuck?? That was SO not the plan. You were just supposed to tell him that you desperately wanted him to love you back, not show him and blindside your best friend like that!
Panic rose up from your chest to your throat, and your eyes widened as you took in Yuuji’s own shocked face. Suddenly your fingers were being ripped away from your mouth as Yuuji’s right hand came up to your jaw once again. It was like he was in a rush to keep you in your previous position, head tilted up, mouth waiting for him to reconnect the two of you again. And he did.
He pressed his mouth firmly against yours, and when he felt you kiss him back, it was as if he sighed in relief and contentment. He slowly opened his mouth, lips coercing yours to do the same as he titled his head to deepen the kiss. It was slow, and deliberate, like he was really trying to take his time.
He stole your heart all over again.
Finally pulling his mouth off of yours, he seemed genuinely concerned in an adorably earnest way.
“Why did you run away?”
“Well... I guess I just didn’t think you’d want to kiss me back, I don’t really know” You answered softly, as if saying it out loud would somehow erase the memory from your mind.
“You really are an idiot sometimes” Then, Yuuji broke into one of his famous, million watt smiles, as he stood straight up and gave out a loud laugh of pure glee. Picking up the bottle of hair oil again, Yuuji got right back to applying and gently massaging the product into your scalp.
You couldn’t help the smile that broke across your cheeks, and a blush spread across your nose with a burning passion. Then your head was lifted once again as Yuuji stole yet another kiss.
“Thank God you never got around to dating anyone else. I don’t think I could’ve handled that kind of heartbreak” He confessed, still smiling as he kissed you a third time.
you’re both sitting on the floor of the dorm common room, backs against the couch, some random show playing that neither of you are really paying attention to.
yuji’s talking — he always is — going on about something that happened during training, hands moving, voice bright.
you’re smiling.
watching him more than the screen.
and then it slips.
“—and i just thought, like, if you were there it would’ve been way more fun ‘cause i like being with you more than anyone el—”
he stops.
you blink.
yuji freezes. completely.
his brain catches up to his mouth a second too late.
“…wait.”
there’s a long pause.
slowly...slowly, his face starts turning red.
“i didn’t mean— no, i did mean that— but not like— i mean—” he’s spiraling now, hands coming up to cover his face. “that sounded weird, right? that sounded weird—”
you laugh softly.
“yuji…”
he peeks at you through his fingers, mortified.
“sorry.”
“…why are you apologizing?”
“because i basically just—” he cuts himself off, groaning quietly. “i’m bad at this.”
you tilt your head slightly.
“bad at what?”
another pause.
this one feels heavier.
yuji lowers his hands slowly, looking at you properly now — really looking, like he’s trying to decide something.
and for once…
he doesn’t dodge it.
“…i like you,” he says.
it’s simple.
no joke. no deflection.
just honest.
his ears are still bright red, voice a little unsteady, heart pounding rapidly— but he doesn’t take it back this time.
“like… a lot.”
the room feels quieter now.
your heart definitely doesn’t.
You stare at him, mouth shut.
yuji laughs nervously, scratching the back of his neck, face red.
“i wasn’t planning to say it like that,” he admits. “i had a better version in my head.”
you then smile. just abit.
“i think this one’s better...”
he blinks, not expecting anything.
“…really?”
you nod.
and that’s all it takes.
the tension in his shoulders drops instantly, relief washing over his expression so clearly it almost makes you laugh again.
“okay,” he exhales, grinning a little now. “good. ‘cause i don’t think i could redo that.”
you nudge his arm lightly.
“so what now?”
yuji looks at you for a second.
then, carefully, like he doesn’t want to mess it up
he reaches for your hand
holding it, oh so gentle.
just like that time when he massaged it.
“now…” he says, smile softer this time, “i keep liking you. just… louder, i guess.”
and somehow...
he still looks just as love-drunk as before.
If anything, it's more.
Grinning, hand squeezing one another's.
It's not the confession he planned but this works too..
Hi! Can I request reader falls asleep somewhere random and like Itadori carries them to bed without waking them up >< I luv your fics btw !!! Thank you!
It was afternoon, students are out and about at this time but it was oddly quiet.
Not the peaceful kind, no this one was the kind that makes Itadori pause mid-step, brows knitting together as he glances around the dim hallway.
Kugisaki is currently out on a mission and Fushiguro, well he's always been quiet anyways.
But you, where were you?
You’re missing.
Not in a dramatic, cursed-spirit-attack way. Just… not where you’re supposed to be.
He scratches the back of his neck, mumbling to himself, “That’s weird…” before wandering off to look for you.
It doesn’t take long till he hears your light snoring, probably from exhaustion.
You’re in one of the quieter rooms—barely used, tucked away from the usual noise. The door’s slightly open, light spilling faintly into the hallway.
He pushes it open gently.
And there you are.
Curled up on the couch, body tucked in on itself like you didn’t mean to fall asleep at all. One arm hangs awkwardly off the edge, your breathing slow and steady, completely unaware of the world.
Yuji blinks.
“…Oh.”
His voice drops immediately, like the room itself told him to be quiet, a smile slowly forming on his face.
For a second, he just stands there, taking it in. You look smaller like this. Softer. Not the version of you that laughs loudly or argues with him over dumb things—just… peaceful.
Then his eyes drift to your arm.
Hanging off. Uncomfortable. Probably going to hurt when you wake up.
He winces.
“Man, that’s gonna suck…”
Carefully Yuji steps closer. Each movement is exaggerated, like he’s scared the floor might betray him and creak too loudly.
He crouches beside you first.
“…Hey,” he whispers, even though he doesn’t actually want you to wake up.
You lightly stir but still falls into your dreams.
He hesitates for a second, like he’s debating something in his head. Then, slowly, he slides one arm under your shoulders and the other beneath your knees.
You shift slightly.
He freezes.
His heart jumps straight into his throat.
“…please don’t wake up, please don’t wake up…” he mutters under his breath.
But you don’t.
So he lifts you.
Effortless.
Like you weigh nothing at all.
Still, he’s careful—adjusting his hold so your head rests against his shoulder, making sure you’re supported, secure. His grip tightens just a little when you instinctively lean into him.
And something about that makes him smile.
Soft. Quiet. Unnoticed.
“Got you,” he whispers.
The walk to your room is slow, not because he needs it to be, but because he doesn’t want to mess this up or maybe he doesn't want it to end. Every step is measured, controlled, like he’s carrying something fragile.
Which you are.
Not wanting to barge in your room without consent. So he chose his.
When he finally reaches his room, he nudges the door open with his foot, slipping inside without a sound.
His bed’s already there, waiting.
He lowers you gently like even gravity should be careful with you. Adjusts your position. Moves your arm so it’s not awkward anymore. Pulls the blanket over you just enough.
You shift again.
A small sound escapes you—barely more than a breath.
Itadori stiffens.
But then you settle.
And he exhales.
“…man, you really just sleep anywhere, huh?” he murmurs, a quiet grin tugging at his lips.
He lingers for a second.
Okay...more than a second.
Just watching.
Then, without thinking too much about it, he reaches out and lightly brushes a stray strand of hair away from your face.
His hand pauses there.
“…you should rest more,” he says softly, like it’s something you might hear even in your sleep.
He pulls back after that, rubbing the back of his neck again, suddenly a little flustered for no reason he wants to admit.
“Don’t tell anyone I did this, okay?” he adds, half-joking, even though you’re completely out.
Then he turns to leave—
But stops at the door.
Glances back one last time.
You’re still there. Safe. Comfortable. Sleeping properly now.
And he smiles again and against his better judgement, he walks towards you once again, with a soft expression.
He sits on the ground besides the bed, his arms resting on the mattress while his head on his arms.
Just looking at you, with warmth in his eyes, like admiring a piece of artwork.
"I love you.. " he whispers to you, watching your peaceful face be gazed by the sun light spilling from the window. Making you look more ethereal in his eyes.
His heart beating softly.
He didn't dare to go to bed to prevent disturbing you and for respect even when you both were together.
He just sits there beside you, also starting to doze off, making sure you are safe.
Yuji was always been a big guy, that much was pretty obvious.
But lately, he grown a lot more — broader shoulders, thicker arms, the kind of build that makes people move out of his way without thinking twice.
The type of build that effortlessly makes you drool.
"Yuji, can you-"
You didn't even get to finish your sentence before he's already behind you.
"Got it! " he said, hands resting on your waist, lifting you just a bit to move you aside.
You can feel it.
The way his body covers your entire frame.
The way his hand guides you on your waist, like it belongs there.
You watch as he stretches out his arm, veins faintly visible beneath his skin.
His slender fingers grabbing whatever you needed in that shelf.
So easily.
He knew you were watching.
He heard the way your breath hitched, just a little.
The way your gaze lingered a second too long on his exposed forearm.
And yet, he looked at you with that same innocent grin.
Like he didn't knew what he was doing to you.
"Eyes up here, sweetheart"
Your face flushed as you snap out of your daydream.
He was standing tall over your figure, object already long forgotten.
His hand didn’t leave your waist.
If anything, it settled more firmly, thumb pressing just enough to make your breath catch again.
“Didn’t think I’d catch you staring like that,” he teased, voice low but playful.
“I wasn’t—”
“Mm,” he hummed, unconvinced.
Before you could step back, he took a small step forward.
Now there was nowhere to go.
Not that he was trapping you—no, Yuji wasn’t like that.
But the way he stood so close, the way his arm still rested around you… it made moving feel like your choice.
And yet—
“You’re doing it again,” he murmured.
Your eyes flicked up immediately.
Right into his.
A mistake.
Because now you were close enough to notice everything—the soft curve of his smile, the warmth in his gaze, the way he looked at you like he’d already figured you out.
“…You’re unfair,” you muttered.
He blinked, tilting his head.
“Unfair?”
“You know exactly what you’re doing.”
For a second, he just stared at you.
Then slowly—
His grin softened into something quieter.
Something a little more dangerous.
“…Do I?”
His other hand slid just slightly along your side—not teasing this time, not playful.
Deliberate.
Like he was testing how far he could go before you pulled away.
You didn’t.
And he noticed.
Of course he did.
His shoulders relaxed, like he’d just confirmed something he’d been wondering about for a while.
“Then tell me to stop,” he said quietly.
But he didn’t move.
Didn’t let go.
Just watched you—waiting.
And somehow, that made your heart race even more.
I guess dating a big guy like Yuji, wasn't so bad at all..
