I'm learning BSL and practicing it with my D&D character, Soft Rain Over Distant Mountains Bedecked in Starlight. I am an absolute baby BSL user (I can do my alphabet and really basic phrases and a bunch of random words) but looking up words for games has been really interesting and has led us down some cool rabbit holes and imprinted certain words in interesting ways :) Soft Rain ended up a sign language user because it felt insane to me that (in D&D lore) Kenku supposedly don't have a language until they learn to copy other peoples' languages; that they don't communicate in a way unique to them. Sure they can't make noises until they hear enough to mimic, but why wouldn't they gesture!! why wouldn't they START with gesture, and work their way into other kinds of language?
Person A and a pregnant person B spend the afternoon curled up together in their warm bed as light rain hits their window.
This prompt with Axe and his s/o would also be wonderful! <3
I'm gonna make it so it's the reader that's preggy
For a long time, Axe hated it when it rained. The rain covered sounds, made it so someone could sneak up on him. It covered and washed away scents, made it hard for him to track.
Then the thunder and lightning.
Everything about storms, he hated it.
That was... Until his datemate came around.
They made him see rainy weather as good! You know how? Well... Cuddle weather. They said whenever it started to rain, they could cuddle.
At first he still felt on edge, and even now he still hated when it thundered but he liked cuddling.
Then he found out that they were pregnant? He was SO happy! Axe had always wanted a babybones even if... He felt worried.
Worried he'd forget about them, worried that they'd get hurt because of him... Worried he would be the one to hurt them.
Those were all thoughts he told his datemate, and they helped him calm down and think about everything.
He didn't have a lot of magic to spare but he gave as much as he could, and even got Blueberry to help out! Maybe Dusty but Killer... Maybe not?
Today he woke up, hearing the soft pitter patter of rain on the window. He yawns, his mouth opening wide then he shuts it again, looking around.
His room... He turns his head down to look at his arms. His datemate... Still asleep.
He moves his hand to rest on their tummy, rubbing it. They've gained weight... Perfect.
He starts to purr, a loud rumbly sound, and does a soul check. Healthy... Half human half monster. Kindness soul.
Perfect... Everything.
"Hey..." He heard his datemate say, laughing softly. He most likely woke them up.
"Morning" he mumbles, nuzzling them lightly "s...sleep... Good?"
They nod, nuzzling him back and he continues to rub at their belly. He made sure to move slowly, not wanting to hurt them at all.
Right now, he didn't care about the rain. All he could see, hear, and smell was his datemate.
the rain hasn't stopped these past few days. it's so pretty, it's so comfortable. i can't stop reading in this weather. i wish it'd always stay like this.
