she had been instructed by her mother, change thrusted into her hands and a shove out the door, to buy emergency eggs and milk from the grocery store a couple blocks down their apartment. if minji was anybody else, she maybe would have protested ( it was late, andcold! ) however her mother owned a café, and the bulk they bought wasn’t arriving for two days. so this emergency supply was needed for now.
huffing to herself and hands stuffed deep inside her coat pocket, she shuffles with slow movements to the store. her eyes dart left to right in apprehension; the streets were practically empty, which meant no risks of danger, but it still managed to make her feel on edge. so the silhouette of a man against the pavement caused by the beam of a streetlight really does give her a jump and her eyes widen in surprise, more so when she realises it’s minkyu.
❝ ya – ! what are you doing so late at night? you scared me! ❞
her knee jerk response is to yell, which may have been an over reaction but she won’t admit it. besides, it was only because there were no other people or many cars about that made her voice seem so loud, right? tutting under her breath in displeasure, or possibly slight sheepishness, she shrugs her shoulders before speaking again.
❝ really, what are you doing about? you’re not lost, are you? ❞
Another sleepless night. For once, Minkyu didn't deem it worthy of drinking it away until he passed out, relaxed from the alcohol he'd consumed. No, tonight called for him to walk outside, feel the warmth of spring that was slowly changing into the heat of summer and enjoy the quiet darkness that took over the city at night. He wasn't one to be in need of sappy things such as peacefulness, but he liked solitude best.
As long as it remained solitude, of course. Somehow the tall male had known that, however low the odds were, he'd eventually spot someone he was familiar with and thus be forced into a conversation. Despite being in a thoughtful mood, that was something he didn't quite look forward to, hence his initial response to Minji showing up and ever so charmingly screaming at her was a tired sigh.
"Sorry, am I past curfew? Didn't realize that, mam." He replied with dripping sarcasm, though there was an amused smile gracing his tired features. Her shock was even funnier when he himself couldn't be bothered being startled by her presence. "Just be glad it's me, I might seem shady but you know I won't harm you, not in such a situation. Maybe if you had kicked me in the crotch out of an attempt of self-defense, so let's both be lucky that it didn't get so far."
Realizing that he was being oddly talkative for the fact that he had dreaded anyone's arrival, Minkyu stayed quiet for a while and simply mustered Minji's startled features. Yeah, she definitely wasn't used to being out this late.
"I'm not lost, I'm not even heading anywhere special. I just decided to appreciate my surroundings for once. The night seems oddly perfect, don't you think?"
