Knitting Update: Softest Blanket Ever
While I'm waiting for my new 8mm circs to come in so I can continue the herringbone weave blanket, I started a new project:
The yarn is Lion Brand Go For Faux in color Husky, and it is the most soft, mowt inviting texture EVER. Unfortunately, it is also a giant bitch to work with. The fur makes it impossible to see the individual stitches, and the yarn is slightly elastic so it's impossible to maintain any consistent tension or gauge.
This project is going to be a blanket intended for my grandmother. I'm aiming something resembling seed stitch but you literally cannot see a thing through all the fur. I'm going by instinct and feel alone, and while I'm getting better at identifying kmits and purls by the pull, but there's already quite a few slipped stitches and probably some accidental increases as well while I was getting my footing.
The good news is, because the fur obscures all, you can't see any mistakes just by looking at it, and since my goal was just to make something that didn't curl like stockinette, I think it'll turn out just fine, and be something my grandmother loves to use.
The needles I'm using for this project are Lucky brand 13mm bamboo circulars. They're a little difficult to work with using this yarn, because they are very smooth and the yarn is very slippery, but they are very light weight. And I know its a non issue once the yarn is on, but I really don't like the cord. It feels sharp on my fingers, and while that's probably my ADHD, I probably won't choose this brand again.
