Hi lovely human. I have a question. What’s up with the ballad of songbirds and snakes? I though it was pretty good, not as good as thg of course but it wasn’t bad. But, did I miss something?
Hello hello! I'm guessing you've seen my stream of SODIUM as of late lol!
Nothing's wrong with it per se; I've mainly been complaining because I haven't the slightest idea how LG plans to turn it into a watchable movie. It's just not a book that screams "I can make a good PG-13 movie that general audiences would like to watch in 2023/2024." Because like...As just one (1) example, if Hollywood/LG was too chicken to show Katniss and Peeta with burn scars at the end of MJ2, how in the HELL are they going to show a good 75% of this book shjkdlshdlks??? It's just VERY dark, gritty, and gruesome.
I've also been saying that general audiences have gotten over the YA Dystopia Craze. Like, it essentially crashed in 2014. People were already over it when MJ2 came out, and Divergent didn't even get their final movie. You stopped hearing about other franchises like the Maze Runner too. So I'm just not understanding how they think people are going to be super hyped for a Hunger Games Prequel Movie this late in the game *ba dum tsss.*
ALSO, like I was rambling about in my tags, I really didn't hear too much about Ballad at all outside of Tumblr. Like there was maybe a WEEK of hype surrounding its release, and then it seemed to instantly fade into obscurity. So if this movie has a giant theatrical release, I'm really not expecting it to perform consistently well, if at all.
AND PERSONALLY LOL, I didn't really like it, but that's just me. It had my attention/interest in the first half-ish, but lost me in the second. I also felt like the ending was disappointing/unsatisfying, as I felt my question "how does Snow turn into a totalitarian tyrant" went unanswered. Like okay yeah sure, he went to study under Gaul, and she was demented, but it was left pretty open ended. That was literally the ONE (1) thing I wanted to find out, and it was sort of left up to interpretation.
HOWEVER, all of my salt towards the book absolutely doesn't mean anything's wrong with it, nor does it mean you can't enjoy it! I'm glad you did because I was out here STRUGGLING TO READ LMAO. And despite my complaints, I am indeed curious to see what they'll do, just because I'm still so...sHOCKED BY THE ENTIRE CONCEPT JSKDLSH
