Been toying with the idea of getting my first growlights this winter. Still on the fence about it. On one hand, I can let my plants go semi-dormant, like in past years. After a slow start, this one made up for lost time, with a growth spurt from Spring to Autumn. Mine is simultaneously pushing out✨glossy✨new leaves AND blooms. I found this one to be a bit fussy with dropping baby leaves, if you either over or under water. It definitely prefers warmer weather, but it is very adaptable. Mine has already endured one Canadian winter in the apartment, so I'm confident it will be fine for the upcoming season. Bud➡️Bloom. A delicate scent of licorice or anise #hoyaerythrinanara This girl bloomed for the first time about a week ago, but didn't get time to post till now. Took about 10 months from rooted cutting to bloom. It lives happily on the plant shelf, where it gets as much natural sun as it can. Blooms are nectar heavy and short lived, lasting only 2 days. No biggie, since another peduncle has already formed. Although I make my own 'pon' mix, I am more than happy to purchase a reasonable-sized bag of the ready-to-use branded stuff. Unfortunately, here in Canada, Lechuza pon is seemingly always out of stock. One day...I will get my hands on a bag.😄🤞 Moving on...Check out the roots on my krimson princess cuttings! They look pretty good, am I right?! Not too shabby for a few months of growth and minimal effort from me. Now, it's time to move them to their forever home. UPDATE✨Only 5 of 8 cuttings survived the transition from soil to leca. The single-node, lightly-rooted krimson princess cuttings were transfered in early Spring. The three that didn't take, just dried up, so I pulled those out. The remaining cuttings have been rooting nicely over the past few months. Gotta pot these up soon. An ungraceful transition to diy pon. I'm ok with this...sort of😅 My🌿hoya heuschkeliana🌿 has been living in my diy soiless mix for about 2 months now. Honestly, can't figure out what I did wrong. The leaves range from wrinkled and papery to firm and succulent. There's even new growth, though, it's possibly just stress growth. On any given day, I yo-yo between chop n' prop and just leaving it to work itself out. What would you do? Hoya Pottsii🌿Definely a "grow and stop" type of hoya. This kinda growth sometimes makes me nervous about overwatering the plant during periods of rest. After 2 months of doing nothing, this hoya is starting to wake up. It has some seriously meaty roots and succulent leaves to uptake and hold water. For now, I have removed the water reservoir and I just water the media weekly. Look at those glossy leaves. A new addition to my #hoyacollection, 🌱hoya erythrina nara🌱 has been acclimatizing well. 🛠Since being transferred from sphagnum moss to LECA two weeks ago, its been hanging out in the warmest part of my home: atop a mini fridge, next to the hot water dispenser, inside an open ziplock bag. Hey, use whatcha got, right?😄 Its been growing roots and pushing out new growth. I'll keep it in this set up for another week or so, before putting it on my plant shelf next to a large south-facing window.
