In a recent ask you said you are a historical archaeologist, what are the different sorts of archaeologists? (And I know arch is different from anthro is different from paleo etc).
There are many kinds of archaeologists, but they kind of differ from place to place. For example, historical archaeologists in the United States are operating from a much later time period than those in Europe, simply because written records were introduced later. (there's a whole debate to be had over oral histories and how often European influenced archaeologists tend to ignore them, but that's another rant for another day)
If there's a specific time period (Classical, Medieval, Prehistoric, Industrial, etc) there's probably a set of archaeologists that specialize in sites and artifacts specifically relating to that time.
When I say I'm a historical archaeologist, I mean than I specialize in things happening from sort of 1700 to 1970. This is in contrast to someone like @midden-maiden who deals almost exclusively with prehistoric (pre European contact) stuff.
