HUGE UPDATE ON THE NEW AATC REBOOT!!!

Michael Bagdasarian (son of Ross and Janice) has reached out to fans on Instagram to explain the situation and confirm that there will be ABSOLUTELY NO AI used in the upcoming Alvin and the Chipmunks reboot.

In his message he states the following:

"There's some Alvin updates and I wanted to send you a message Ross and Janice wanted to send out:

Long overdue message, but we've been squirreling away working on creating projects and opportunities for chipmunk fans. Janice has been working on multiple stories, but we wanted to quickly write you to say that we're very excited to announce that we've partnered with a company that can help us create a direct link to our fans.

They will be focusing on sharing our stories and programs in a way that's accessible to you all.

We can't wait to start delivering our old and new chipmunk projects along with official merchandise you all have asked for and more opportunities for fan engagement. Exciting chipmunk opportunities lay ahead. Thank you so much for your patience.

All of our gratitude,

Ross and Janice."

He also went on to say:

"Alvin is not going to be an influencer, and we are not using AI. That version of Alvin isn't an official final look [and] the video [posted] today was meant to let people know that the "headshot" is not how Alvin is going to look."

Munk Media also reached out to Michael and got more information about the situation. They've posted a video on it.

In his messages to Munk Media he states:

"I have a strong refusal to use any AI unless forced to via Google search or Meta AI."

"I'm really happy to report that that image is not the Alvin used in the reboot but was more of a promotional/announcement image."

He also explains how they've been working with dozens of artists and animators on this project, and that much of it is still in very early production.

We still have no answers on what happened with "Golden" but I decided to reach out to him myself (on my personal account) to both thank him and see if he has an explanation. If he responds to me, I'll share the news here. For now I just want to say. Please don't go hunting him down. He was kind enough to talk to the fans he already had contact with but I don't want dozens of fan accounts spamming him with questions. We'll find out information when they're ready to give it to us.

But anyway, we can rest easy and look forward to new AATC content!!!

THE MOVIE WILL MOST LIKELY NOT BE Ai!

We don’t know a ton about the deal with Big Shot, but we have word directly from BP that they are NOT using Ai for the movie/reboot.

@gleefulchibi will be posting a video on it! My versions of the munks and I have to head out to work and brace ourselves for another round of thunderstorms.

We’re excited to put it in color sometime, but not sure when that will be as we can’t derail the Journey To Excelsior Vol 1 illustration project. We are 5-6 illustrations away from FINISHING!

To all the people out there who don’t care because this is happening to Alvin and the Chipmunks…and we’re so “cringe” and “pointless” and “annoying.”

Please stand with us. Please fight for us. Your favorite movie or show franchise could end up next. If this stuff gets made, it will not stop at Alvin and the Chipmunks. We could be looking at a future where human creativity is obsolete and everything entertainment is all Ai generated.

We need to find a way to shut this down before it spreads and I am telling you we are too small and niche of a fandom to do it alone.

If you care about the integrity of entertainment and the jobs of billions of artists, writers, animators, and so on, PLEASE HELP US!

ALVIN 2.0: A bittersweet update. I’m still not doing so great, but I made it through getting some bloodwork done today. I also went for a walk at the local mall because the sky’s so thick with smoke that it’s not safe to be outside right now. The walk has helped get some of my thoughts to stop buzzing so I can re-direct them to happier stuff. And I also managed to sing again. I think my overstimulation might finally be breaking so I can listen to my music again.”

Everyone else is handling it okay for now. Not great, just okay. We’re all here for each other and we very much appreciate all of you here for us.

ALVIN 2.0: It’s gonna hit me the hardest. The others don’t immediately read as “connected to AATC” when they’re out in public, but I do. I don’t want to stop wearing my cap or stop being me…It’s been so freeing to BE ME, but now I just don’t know where we go from here.

JEANETTE: We’ll do whatever we can to oppose this direction. An out of touch new reboot is one thing, we could still find things to enjoy in that, but an Ai one is…devastating.

ALVIN 2.0: Yeah. It’s….this might be the hardest thing we have ever faced. The hardest thing good ol’ Chipmunkweirdo has faced too.

THEODORE: But the most important thing is not to lose hope!

ELEANOR: The world needs REAL creatives, whether it wants to pretend it doesn’t or not!

We will survive. And maybe someday we can finally do more than survive.

Yes, some disabilities are dynamic, and most of us in the disability community know this. However many people aren’t aware of just how dynamic some conditions can be.

A person can go from no symptoms at all to being profoundly debilitated all in one day.

Some have baseline symptoms so low and flares so high, that things can go from 1 to 10 very quickly.

I know it can seem impossible that some people’s disabilities fluctuate with such extreme variability, but this is a real phenomenon that people deal with.

Hey, have you seen where they’re rebooting the AatC movies? Some people are saying it looks ai, but there’s no official word on that part yet. What’s your thoughts on the idea of reboot?

My thoughts are that I would love a reboot.

But that this is likely 100% Ai generated content we’ll be getting and I do not support that. I CAN’T support that.

Big Shot Pictures said they’re going to be getting people with experience in generative Ai and that implies they’re going to be making the short form content, if not the entire movie, using Ai.

I HATE it. It’s making me very sick feeling. I also feel that setting the munks up as influencers who state their pop culture and political stances is a recipe for disaster in this day and age.

I was upset when the show got canceled. Now the characters are going to get THEMSELVES CANCELLED. 🫩

We are tired. The munks and I will have to put up with whatever awful things come out of this and it will color the public perception of the characters more.

My headmates have a hard enough time getting taken seriously. This was the LAST thing we needed. The last thing the fandom needed.

I initially hated it until Alvin pointed out that this is how he feels when getting in and out of bed in his universe. Tiny rodent dwarfed by human size bed.

“Pictured here are some activities and souvenirs from our Summer Reading library tour! Hopefully, part 1 of 3 or 4. We visited several libraries in our district today and had a SPECTACULAR time.”

1. Jeanette received a new bookmark for her collection.

2. Alvin dabbled in the ancient writing system called Cuneiform.

3. I won a dino egg for correctly identifying 6 dinosaur silhouettes. I can’t wait to hatch the little guy.

4. Alvin and I teamed up to match the hominid skulls correctly on the first try. Dave was flabbergasted.

5. Jeanette added a little fun fact about cats to the timeline.

6. Theodore drew a wonderful cave art piece using 6 different colored crayons. Anachronistic, but adorable.
