Stoked for my Shantae playthrough on Twitch! Here’s some custom artwork for the series by @littleartistan on Twitter! Check the stream out at https://www.twitch.tv/iamsolaine
Solaine takes place on a tidally locked planet with a k type (orange dwarf) star. As such, most foliage is red-black in color. The sky is a pale gray and water appears the same color. There is a constant wind, blowing towards the sub solar point of the planet which is in a permanent tropical storm. Solaine is the name of the continent the story takes place on:
Each biome is directly impacted by the planet being tidally locked, hence the rather uniformed distribution of biomes. Having a permanent day and night side of the planet also means there are areas that never see the sun, including on the day side with shadows.
Now that I’ve made an introductory post I can open the flood gates on Solaine
I’d like yall to meet Nelumbo! She’s the protagonist for my dream game that I’d love to make someday. Here she is in academy clothing, what you start the game out in.
Nelumbo is an Umbra, a light based lifeform composed mostly of shadow. They absorb light, storing it, though too much light intake is dangerous. Many Umbra choose to style the light as hair and eyes, taking a more humanoid look. These Umbra wear shrouds to protect them from taking in too much light.
Nelumbo is upbeat and optimistic, and always eager to learn more. She wants to see Solaine and meet its people, and to do that she decides to become a merchant. You spend the game exploring the world, collecting resources to craft items to sell and learn new skills from folks you meet along the way. It’s a game about life, community, balance, and the world around you.
A piece made for @vulpeccula for a Secret Santa.
Last Piece of the year however I did have fun drawing it, even if I did want to explode in the middle of it
Compare the torrent and the glacier. Both get where they are going.
