nico: it’s cute how you think death can get you out of this relationship
Nico: *does something stupid and gets himself hurt
Will: After I lovingly nurse you back to health, I'm going to kill you.
Will: What's for dinner, Nico?
Nico: Me.
4 year old Bianca wants a doggo...
Bianca begged for a dog since she knew what the word dog was. Even thought her first word was “death”, she loved dogs. The word “dog” was more or less her second word she spoke. She loved dogs from the first time she met one. She, pretty much on a daily basis, tried to get Will and Nico to get her a dog. But today was different, today she had a plan, and it was foolproof.
“Nico?” Bianca, now 4 years old, walked up to Nico, holding a stuffed dog in her arms. She sat down on the floor in the master bedroom.
“Yes?” Nico paused his game and looked over at his daughter. He was playing Call of Duty, as usual, while Will was out at work. Nico had found a night time job, so he was free during the day. His new job? Watching Bianca. His night job? His favorite place. McDonald’s.
“Well, I was thinking…” She trailed off, standing up and climbing onto the bed, “I was thinking that Lucky is lonely.” She pet her stuffed animal’s head. “He is lonely and sad. Like you.”
Nico chuckled at this remark, “Who told you that?”
“Will.” She beamed. Her hazel eyes glimmering with happiness.
“Interesting.” Nico noted and shook his head with a sigh, “Alright, so what is it you want?”
“A dog!” Bianca smiled and then looked at Nico with baby eyes. Nico sighed.
“You know what I am going to tell you.” Nico chuckled. He had discussed this with Will the night before, and they agreed that it was time for another family member.
“But please?” Bianca cooed, and hugged her stuffed dog tighter.
“Well” Nico sighed, “I guess so.”
“What!” Bianca threw her arms in the air, “Really?!”
“Sure, we will go to the shelter, and pick out a dog, alright?” Nico smiled at his daughter, laughing softly, “Guess who is going to go with us?”
“Who?” Bianca giggled, jumping up and down on the bed.
“Destiny.” Nico smiled. “You remember who that is?”
“Mommy!” She gawked and then hugged Nico. She understood that Nico and Will were not her real parents, and that Destiny was her mother. They saw each other now and then, with small visits. Sometimes it was going to the ice cream parlor, other times it was to the zoo. Nico nodded and marveled at her excitement. He was so proud of her and how much she grew, mentally and physically, in just 4 years. She looked just like Destiny in so many ways. Her olive skin, her hazel eyes. She partially resembled Nico in a way. Except for she was Latino, and he was European. Big difference.
“You ready to go?” Nico smiled at his energetic and excited daughter. “Go get shoes on.”
The drive to the animal shelter was only about 15 minutes. Though for Bianca, it seemed like an eternity. As they parked, Destiny was waiting, sitting on a bench, outside the shelter doors. Bianca squirmed in her car-seat, making it difficult for Nico to unbuckle her. After a moment or two of frustration, he finally got her unbuckled and she jumped out of the car. She ran over, dragging Nico behind her, to Destiny.
“Mommy!” Bianca squealed and hugged Destiny’s legs, “I am getting a dog!”
“I know love.” Destiny smiled, and picked Bianca up. She was getting too old to be coddled and held in arms, but everyone ignored that fact. “Hey Neeks.” She smiled and hugged Nico gently, and then looked him in the eyes, “Thank you for letting me be here.”
“Destiny, please.” Nico smiled, “This is a milestone in Bianca’s life. Of course you should be here.”
“Is Will going to be here?”
“He has a huge cardiovascular surgery today…” Nico sighed, “So no.”
“What a shame.” Destiny kissed Bianca’s cheek, “But I’m here, so what do you say love? Wanna get a doggo?”
“Yes!” Bianca squealed and squirmed in Destiny’s arms.
The three of them went inside, Bianca in the lead. She read the signs, telling them what the dog’s name was, and how old it was. She stopped at every single cage and looked at the dog for a few minutes. She was almost assessing them. Nico found this funny, since she spent more time with the older dogs, and pretty much a second with the puppies. Both Destiny and Nico thought that she would want a puppy. Bianca spent a few minutes at a dog named Harold’s cage, left, but then returned to him.
“Nico!” Bianca called and pressed her face against the glass door of the cage. Harold, who was a huge pit-bull with marble coloring, walked over, wagging his whole body at the little girl.
“Yes?” Nico laughed and walked over, “This is Harold.” He smiled and looked at the over happy pit-bull. “Is this the one?”
“Yes.” Bianca nodded and started to ‘dance’ like Harold was.
“You know, he is an older dog, he is about 5 years old.” Nico sighed, “That means you wont have him as long as a puppy.”
“That’s okay.” Bianca smiled, “He needs a family.”
“Oh my god, she is so sweet.” Destiny awed at her daughter.
“She is.” Nico agreed and smiled softly.
After Bianca chose Harold, they went over to the desk, and talked to the woman who was there. She told Destiny and Nico that Harold was on the kill-list, so it was great that he was going to a new home. Nico was sorta astonished that it was a kill shelter, and was more supportive of Bianca’s choice now. The woman went and got a leash and collar for Harold, and then unlocked his cage. He immediately went over and attacked Bianca. With kisses. Bianca squealed and Destiny and Nico both laughed at this. Now Nico knew that this was the right dog.
“You ready to go to the store to get him some toys and food?” Nico smiled.
“Yes! Can I walk him?” Bianca gave Nico puppy eyes. Harold just sat by Bianca’s feet as she held the leash. He didn’t seem like he was going to run off with her anywhere, so Nico allowed her to walk him.
At the pet store, Harold just lazily walked behind Bianca and didn’t pull at all. Nico was happy, since if he even tried to take the leash, Bianca threatened to tell him to bite Nico. He figured Harold didn’t even know what that meant, or was ever taught to bite, but he took his chances and did not take the leash.
“Nico!” Bianca screamed, making Nico spin around at the speed of light, “I want this for Harold.” She smiled, getting his attention quicker then ever.
“That is a princess dress.” Nico groaned, “Harold is a boy.”
“So?” Bianca laughed, “You sometimes wear a skirt.”
“How do you even…” Nico flustered and held his face in his hand, “You know what, get it.” He groaned and was still wondering how she knew that he wore - you know what, never mind.
Bianca put it in the cart, and then picked out some toys for Harold. Nico picked out a huge bag of dog food, and then they went to pick out a bed. They ended up getting a purple bed, with matching purple food and water bowls. They went to checkout, and Nico paid for everything. After packing everything in their car, they drove home, with the newest family member of the Solace-di Angelo family.
