Solar Distancing

The sun, it would seem, has business

      on the other side of the earth,

drawing us slowly to darkness,

      a few extra minutes per day.

Perhaps he thinks no one will notice,

      that we overlook his worth,

but immersed in chilly starkness,

      we all wish that he would stay.
