Because I think way too much about little details and you guys really seem to like my headcanons, and also I just really like picturing the shenanigans these guys get into with tabletop RPGs. Still planning on writing out some “real” Solarian Chronicles rules one of these days...
-Sebastian was the first of the Pelican Town folk to get into the franchise after finding the book series in his high school library. He wanted to try out the game, but wasn't about to join in with a group of people he didn't know to start playing, so he convinced Sam and Abigail to play with him. They've all been hooked ever since.
-Abigail is only really interested in the game, but Sam's read a few of the books as well and Sebastian reads all of them. Sam's the one who introduced the series to Penny, who plays the game from time to time but is more into the books herself.
-Sam also writes Solarian Chronicles fanfiction, mostly starring his and his friends' characters on their various misadventures, and he isn't half bad. He's no Elliot or anything, and there are times where he'll write out some silly ideas or perhaps a trollfic or two just for the heck of it, but overall his stories are imaginative and pretty enjoyable.
-Abigail's class of choice is the rogue. It's normally recommended to have at least one healer (or at least a bard) in the party, but the three of them have been playing together for long enough that they're usually able to cheese by without one. Yes, this does mean that their standard class setup is Warrior, Wizard and Rogue ;)
-In addition to those three classes and the healer, Solarian Chronicles also has a choice of bard, artificer and hunter.
