Summary: Asala Adaar and Solas enjoy a moment in the sun.

Solas and Asala laid on the soft grass of the Emerald Graves, away from the Inquisition’s camp. They had gone there for a picnic, at Solas' insistence. 

At first, she turned the invitation down. There was too much work to be done, she couldn’t afford to spend a day outside doing nothing. 

‘You have been too stressed, vhenan. A moment of peace, to clear your head, will be good.’ Was the argument he had used to convince her, and it worked. 

Now that they were there, Asala was glad she had agreed to it. They sat underneath a large tree, its leaves shielding them from the sun. It didn’t take long for them to finish the food, but Asala did not wish to go just yet. Instead, she laid down on the grass, feeling the sun on her skin. She closed her eyes and sighed with content. 

It didn’t take long for Solas to lay down beside her. The two stayed there, in silence, just enjoying each other’s presence. 

Then, he spoke.  

"Asala." Solas said her name with a certain gentleness. "Did you choose it for yourself?"

She turned her head towards him, opening one eye to look at him quizzically, being caught off guard by the question. He explained himself.

"From what I've been told, qunari are not given names but titles that represent where they stand under the Qun. You are Vashoth, however. It left me wondering."

Asala smiled, impressed that he knew this, as most non-quanri were unaware, and then answered "Some of us to pick their own names, but that's usually the ones who left the Qun. Asala is the name my parents choose for me when I was born."

Solas hummed, interested. "Did your parents pick names for themselves?"

"They did. My mother was Hissera and father, Kost."

"Where did Adaar come from?"

Asala smirked. "You're full with questions today."

"I apologize if it's too much-"

"Don't worry, I just found it funny. Usually I'm the one asking."

"What can I say? Your curiosity has rubbed on me."

She chuckled and shook her head. "To answer your question, I'm not sure. Surnames are not a thing under the Qun, as they don't have families as others understand, but I guess that is what turning on the Qun entails: you get to make your own rules."

He nodded and hummed in agreement. "I remember Bull talking about your family's name, Adaar. It means weapon, correct?"

"Yes. Since there's not actual names, Tal-Vashoth usually pick from words in Qunlat. Shokrakar, the leader of the Valo-Kas, for example, her name means 'rebel'." She explained. Hissera means 'hope' and Kost means 'peace'. Makes me wonder why they would choose ‘weapon’ for a surname."

"Perhaps it spoke to their nature. They sought peace and hope but were still as dangerous as a weapon."

"Are you calling my parents dangerous?" She smirked.

"No. But it is how most see the qunari people. It can also service as a warning to others."

"I hadn't considered that." She turned to look at the horizon. "Weapon of peace and weapon of hope does have a ring to it."

"And what of you? What does Asala mean."

Asala closed her eyes, taking a deep breath before saying "Soul."

A small smile graced Solas face, as he looked at her. "A fitting name for someone with a spirit as lively as yours."

She matched his smile. "Thank you. And what of you? What does 'Solas' mean?"

He inhaled a breath. "To stand tall. Or, in other words, pride."

Asala let out a small laugh. "Well, I don't know if that fits you that well."

"Why is that?"

Asala looked at him with a certain gentleness he hadn't seen in some time. "I don't know, but you don't seem very prideful to me. I've met pride demons and they look nothing like you." She chuckled.

"Then what would you have of me? What do I seem like."

Asala took a moment to think before answering "Wise."

"Truly?"

"I wouldn't bother you with so many questions if I didn't value your wisdom, Solas."

"I-thank you, Inquisitor."

'It means more than you could imagine' he wanted to say but didn't. Instead, he reached for her left hand, gently intertwining her fingers with his own. He placed a small kiss on it, before resting their hands on his chest.

They looked at each other and Asala smiled. They could stay there until the sun set.

yknow i think i‘m still recovering from the fact that solas stole my fucking arm and immediately after i had to decide whether to keep the inquisition or not

did no one think that maybe after having a limb stolen i wasn‘t in the best state of mind to decide that

was that not something that occurred to anyone else

Solas & the Winter magic

A little idea crept into my head yesterday and I quickly sketched it out and finished it up today. Fellow Dragon Age Player's - I am guessing you feel my pain, damn that little prick *A* ! There will be an alternative version differing in the last panel - that version will be called "Success" instead of "Fail" - and that's all I'll tell : 3 . I am afraid the joke will be lost on all those that don't know Dragon Age: Inquisition - sorry about that and guysss you're missing out on an awesome game : 3 ! Enjoy this little piece of payback directed towards that cold-hearted little elven-ass >:D !

Dragon Age Inquisition Fanart: Solas

I apologize for the unusually long absence OTL - I was busy playing .. err I guess you can tell xD ... Awmg the feels, I just love this game - I am almost inclined to claim it is the best game I have ever played, so much going on, so much despair *A* ! I just started again from scratch (first play-through took roughly 92 hours, though I didn't complete all the quests) and awmg it's like coming back home :D ! The text in the top left of the image says: Ar Lath Ma Vhenan which roughly means "I love you, my heart" in the elven language <3 Drew the above while listening to *NEXT WORD IS A SPOILER* "Dread Wolf Song".
