❝ Miranda⸺? ❞ Cas instinctively buzzes the door open. ❝ Get in, I’ll meet you on the hallway. ❞
Not questioning the situation further (it sounds urgent enough), he grabs his pistol and heads out of his apartment and down the hallway to hopefully meet her halfway, hopefully only her, not whoever are... troubling her. He hasn’t heard from her since Shepard was taken into Alliance custody, disbanding the entire team; Cas himself placed on mandatory leave though miraculously not discharged even after everything that went down last year. The unit does mostly house soldiers so they’re not without backup, he has a weapon... but he is concerned. One of the first things he’d observed about Miranda was that it was difficult to faze her. If someone’s got her begging to be let in, it can’t be good.
& where has she been, the past months? It’s not that Cas thinks she owes him anything. They’d slept together, a good few times, but they aren’t, weren’t together. Nevertheless...
❝ Are you wounded? Is anyone...? ❞ His own appearance is more frazzled than usual: he hasn’t shaved in a few days, and while he’s wearing his usual dress-shirt-and-tie, the shirt is crumpled, the tie loosened.
Smash or pass @ Belle Shepard!

"Miranda?" Shepard would be lying if she said she hadn't thought about it. Her ass looked amazing in her uniform. "I'd smash... god that sounds like something a Krogan would say."

She all but short-circuits. They’ve been flirting ⸺ it’s not that it’s surprising Miranda would, well, keep flirting, but somehow Wren is suddenly tuning out their conversation, gripping the countertop behind her, out of room to lean back herself, as Miranda leans closer, reaching for something from said countertop. Yes, of course it’s all very deliberate; Wren plays these games herself. Yet rather than say something, do something, anything, in response, she’s left practically staring, flustered, gripping at the countertop for dear life, eyes following Miranda as she moves.
What the hell has come over her? She doesn’t get flustered, she’s the one who makes people flustered! She really must not be sleeping well enough...
❝ I think, ❞ she says, to her credit not stumbling over her words, ❝ you might’ve said some words, there... ❞ She bites her tongue, smooths down her hair nervously. Why the hell is she nervous?! They’ve been flirting. And it’s not like this is her first rodeo. She’s good at this. Yet somehow Miranda gets under her skin. She’s torn on how she feels about that ⸺ she doesn’t like feeling like she’s not in control of herself and her own reactions, but she does like Miranda.
and last but not least, miranda!!
- me2 shenanigans with garrus yes pls - bobbie’s cerberus arc would fit very nicely with miranda i think! - i think throwing camina and miranda together would be very interesting because, even though they both lead cerberus cells, they are very different women and i think it would be a lot of fun to explore that!
@solheimisms sent: ❔ send ❔ and i’ll list a couple muses that i’d like to throw at yours!
“ why be a wallflower when you can be a venus fly trap? “
Shepard’s unsure on how to reply. Miranda is a venus fly trap, for sure: ready to snap and bite, always mostly on edge, a predator in a see of preys. Yet, though, Shepard’s never been afraid of her, not ever since day one. She’s been wary, sure, she’s been suspicious, yes, but scared? Never. The more they got closer, the more they opened up to each other, the more it became evident to her: while Miranda is and remains a dangerous person, if she wants to be, most of it is a facade. One that Jane has slowly but surely learned how to break down, going even as far as to consider Miranda a good friend, someone who will bend backwards for you if you so just ask.
“You don’t always have to be.” Shepard only shrugs. “Not here, at least. Not on the Normandy.” Her face lights up in a small smile, and she offers a small pat on her shoulder. She would have hugged her, but she’s not sure how Miranda would have reacted. “You don’t always have to be ready to snap, be ready to bite. You can afford to relax, once in a while. Besides, you don’t really strike me as neither, if I have to be honest.” She brings one hand up to her chin, stroking it in thought. She’s not actually very good at plants, and she most definitely does not have a green thumb, considering her track records. “I’d say, you’re more of a rose. Extremely beautiful, but dangerous if you don’t pay attention.” How banal. Shepard almost grimaces, but hopefully Miranda understands what she means. Damn flowers and their complicated names, she does not remember anything.
[ COLLAPSE ]: a weakened sender (either from exhaustion or injuries or whatever!) sinks into the receiver’s embrace, only to collapse in their arms, too weak to move.
She's been waiting for Miranda to come back for some time now, time she spent pacing in front of her office ---- well, Liara's now, but the Asari is not on board at the moment, and Shepard defaulted to when it used to be Miranda's, to when she finally saw the woman behind the Cerberus officer. The moment she sees her stumbling (how weird, Miranda does not stumble) out of the elevator, Joker's voice resonates over the intercom, announcing her presence on board. Shepard stops her pacing. Miranda raises her head, and her gaze falls on Shepard: to say the woman looks exhausted is euphemism, with dark bags under her eyes and sligthly unkempt hair. That’s a first from her, Jane’s always been convinced she woke up with already perfect hair and makeup. Shepard doesn’t move, opting instead to let the woman come to her --- surprise shines on her face for a moment when Miranda hugs her, but she is not the one about to complain.
“Hey.” She murmurs, her voice soft against the thrumming engine of the normandy, her arms curling around the other’s waist. Yet, it’s with surprise that she must unexpectedly tighten her hold when Miranda’s legs give out underneath her, her body going slack in her arms, and she’s fairly certain she must thank her extensive cybernetics for not plummeting to the floor with the woman, and instead managing to keep them upright.
“Miranda?!” She knows there’s alarm in her voice, panic rising steadily, and she’s one breath away on hollering Chakwas’s name and waking up the whole ship, but Miranda shakes her head against her shoulder.
I’m just tired, Shepard. I’m fine, I promise.
It doesn’t help her worry, not when the woman cannot literally stand on her own, but at least she’s safe now, and she’s not injured. “How long has it been since you slept?” She opts to ask instead, one hand moving from her lower to her upper back as she adjusts her old. She moves it in a slow circle, offering a little bit of comfort --- at least, as much as she can while also holding her. The positioning is not ideal.
“Can you walk to the elevator? I don’t want you collapsing here for everyone to see.” Everyone who? There’s no one around, really, but still, Shepard’s default response is on humor, despite the worry still shining in her eyes. “I can always carry you bridal style, if you prefer.”
