soljake is like a heist movie and sollux is obviously the hacked into the mainframe and jake is the comedic relief stuntman whos gonna do the main thing to actually get into the building and he hypes himself up a lot and talks about how much experience he has and acts kind of dense and then the day of the heist happens and everyone else is in position and sollux gives jake the go ahead and then jakes smile fades and he starts crying and sollux is the only one in the van andhes like "??? dude what are you doiing get iin there everythiing2 ready" and then jake tearfully admits that actually he has no experience he just gets bullied a lot and wanted to be a part of something and now hes going to ruin everything anf sollux says something blunt like "your value ii2nt iin your achiievement2 dumba22. except riight now thii2 ii2 kiind of a problem" and then awkwardly pats him on the back and is like "fiine ii have an iidea" and then it cuts to the nezt scene where jakes wearing a dress and distracting people at the party and aradias geared up going to the lasers

Karkat & Jake: Both parallel Cherubs (Grey text, Skulls) for no reason and both love their friends.

Feferi & Jake: Both are nice, dream of greatness, want people to get along, done with their Prince's ego, and love their friends

Sollux and the Manic Pixie Dream Girls

So Sollux’s main love interests are Aradia, the Hostess of the dead, and Feferi, the Witch of Life.

Aradia has fairy wings, never stops smiling and navigates through the dream bubbles all the time. Feferi is super peppy, her name already sounds like Fairy and created the dream bubbles.

(Like I said on an older post, Land represents Life, with plants and the Mother Grub, and Sea represents Death, with gl'bgolyb. Aradia and Fef change this bcz of their roles of psycho-pomp and healer)

(DirkJake also has a lot of this symbology, the island stranded Jake full of pumpkins, and the sea stranded Dirk, with nothing but sea around him. Overwhelmed by life and overwhelmed by death)

The whole thing with MPDGs is that they set unrealistic expectations for relationships, and specially for women in those relationships, that they are gonna cheer their partner up and fix their life’s problems. And while Sollux’ feelings on all of this are never clarified, I expect him to have enough self awareness to not put that kinda pressure on them willingly.

Aradia has a lot of rage, pre-death she was vindictive and really upset and the Hemospectrum, sorta like how Feferi was, except the fish had more of a chance changing anything. Both wanted to fix the system, and Sollux was pretty apathetic towards it.

Sollux tends to attach himself with people who care, because of how done he is with everything, and that includes Terezi, Kanaya and Karkat too, all people who cared deeply about others, to the point of pushy-ness sometimes. And could they all be described as Manic Pixie Dream Trolls? Maybe, if you squint.

And my point is, Jake is another victim of the MPDG gaze, he is expected to fix Dirk, by the fandom and kinda by Dirk himself. (I’m gonna be a villain and wait for Jake to come over and kick my ass on the Meat timeline)

And Jake is really fucking sad on the Candy Timeline, and who else is on the Candy Timeline? Sollux.
