Self Para | Party Preparations

Grace had always been one of those people to start planning things well in advance but never act on any of the plans until a day or two before the big event. And her 18th birthday party wasn't any different. She had gotten a notebook back in December and began jotting down everything she wanted: what kinds of foods and drinks, the music, the color scheme and decorations... It was the big 1-8. Everything had to be perfect.

And she was also really grateful that Spike was going to DJ her party. That way, she wouldn't have to worry about the music. It would be all taken care of. He would show up a few hours before the party to set up; and Grace figured she would decided the location of the DJ booth when he got there. It would either be in the basement by the mini bar or upstairs in the living room since those were the two locations people were mostly going to be hanging out at her party. The rest of her house was going to be closed off. No one would be allowed in her father's downstairs office or the formal dining room. And absolutely no one would be allowed upstairs, especially Lina and Nando. She still didn't trust that kid, even if he did seem nice enough.

After a quick last minute stop at the party store after school the day before, Grace was pretty sure she had gotten all the decorations and supplies she needed. She didn't really need many decorations besides a few streamers to hang around the house and one of those shiny "Happy Birthday" signs that Bella had talked her into buying. It wasn't like she would need balloons for decorations as well. One, she was too old for them. And two, she didn't feel like spending her birthday having an allergic reaction. Those were never fun.

With the help of Bella, Lina, and Max, Grace spent the majority of Saturday morning and part of the afternoon decorating, arranging tables, laying out cups and plates, hiding and locking away the expensive liquor, and just generally setting up for the party. The pizza and pasta would be ordered closer to the time the guests would arrive; and Lina had agreed to run and pick up the cake.

Now all that Grace had left to do was start getting dressing and doing her makeup and hair. She had to look perfect in case a certain someone showed up.
