FRONT YARD UPDATE 1 OF 1
October 12, 2020
The front yard looks a bit better but it's a work in progress for what we've got going on. We've been Solorizing the rows by using a thick black tarp (ours is a pond liner). What we do is lay it on top of a few rows and after 2-3 weeks pull it back remove as much weeds as we can and try to keep up with the new ones.
Because crop rotation is extreamely important we've moved things around a bit.
At the endrow we have squash's, the 2nd row has beans and peas, third row is Armanian Cucumbers.
We built trellis's to give the plants things to crawl up on so it'd be easier both for harvest and upkeep since the Cucumbers this last season crawled out over two other rows at one point.
Nothing in rows 3-6 at the moment.
Rows 7-9 are being tarped and Solorized at the moment.
The potted and flower row.
The flower row is a tamer version of what all the rows looked like before we started solorizing them.
The dragon fruit is going to get a big trimming because all but a couple sections have died out. We aren't sure if this was due to being over/under watered or from the horrid heat. Our summers temps reached a high of at least 120°F this last summer.
Aloes and a fig that survived the summer. The fig is going to be up potted into one of the clay pots in the pot row sometime in the next couple of weeks.
Some hanging plants, another fig that is going to be up potted and a cactus under it.
I'm aiming to get as much plant like going as I can this year.
The tote that originally held sorgum and a bell pepper plant has found a new set of eggplants in them. I'm concerned that the one on the left isn't going to survive but the one on the rights got quite a few flowers on it so far. The bell pepper did survive the summer and was reported into a clay pot at the end of our driveway.
Our Pomegranate tree, still no fruits but it's holding on and has new branches!
One of the hanging strawberries that lasted the summer, hoping to get some berries this winter. Under it is our surviving Christmas tree Wich is also to be reported this season.
