To celebrate the winter solstice, Latvians disguise as animals, gypsies, or devils, and go house to house singing & dancing. This brings luck & chases away evil spirits.

There are very few things I enjoy more than having a small bonfire, a bottle of good beer and looking up at the night sky. When I was child my cousins took me up to a small stone-circle on our ancestral land in SW Cork. Something changed in me that day.
