I keep running into this misconception online that capitalism isn't inherently to blame for unrest, but it literally. As long as wages are low, and prices of essentials are high, there will always be an overworked, underpaid, lower class section of society. The solutions to this include labor laws, anti-trust legislation, nationalizing essential infrastructure and instituting social support networks. It's not like, 'my opinion', it's irrefutably true if you regard any ethically sourced anthropological studies on the subject.
The fucked up thing is that trump has overwhelmingly brainwashed the majority of the people who NEED support systems into believing they're un-American if they use the support networks and a hypothetical increase to taxes is worse for the impoverished subsection of society than not having these systems. Nevermind that the people who would benefit from these programs seldom have property to pay tax on. It's impossible to explain to someone who doesn't care about other people, that if you don't want strung out homeless people on the corner of Main Street, our society has to pay for them to live somewhere and get the help they need.
