i've been thinking about the next short film i would wanna do but then it hit me-- is my story telling too boring enough to be considered art? for example, i was thinking of making a film that follows a cat in the countryside, hunting for food in different places like a random person's house, being chased by dogs, being stroked by kids, and still being hungry at the end of the day. i was thinking of Only following the cat in its adventures and ending it nowhere. could that, in all of its entirety, be considered art because it's framed as a script for a film that i would want to spiel? is it less art than if i would say, just drawing a cat doing all of those adventures? is it less art than if i would say, taking pictures of the cat in different angles? what is art to me and what is art in general? if i add creative stuff like lets say, if i add squiggles on it or make the cat out of cardboard, if i make the story have metaphors... would that be called art? i am having an existential crisis.
i tried to write a poem but the poem was too covered with so many things that it became obscure, and i might argue, artless. because the metaphors don't make sense, because there is no connection with whatever i was saying to the thing inside my head. what. is. art.
