In August of 2010, I started my first day at Paul Mitchell: the School - Orlando. I had dreams and aspirations of being a world renowned stylist working big events like New York Fashion Week and doing hair for celebrities before they walked the red carpet for the Oscars.
Through no fault other than my own, these dreams were not realized. Mostly because during school I discovered that I enjoyed doing makeup much more. I found it to be a whole lot stressful than doing hair day in and day out. Once I was out of school I worked with a design team working for a big TV channel and loved every minute of it. Unfortunately things didn’t work out and I left after about a year.
That being said, sometimes I get asked by friends to pull out from the back of my brain all the things I learned in hair school and in the years since then. (Classes, tutorials, brief jobs in salons.)
Yesterday was one of those days. I had the pleasure of doing my dear good friend’s hair and it turned out exactly how I wanted it to. I am so happy with how it ended up looking. (If you’re curious and want to see it, please check out my previous post.) All in all, yesterday was great and I loved being able to put my knowledge of hair color to the test and to get those creative juices flowing.
What trades have you picked up, but don’t use on a daily basis, but love when you have the opportunity to use?
