Shock can't use microwaves, play video games, or get too close to a computer. He won't even get too close to his drippy amphibian boss, out of fear he might toast him. Shock's inability to function normally in society has made him grumpy and impatient. He tends to let his frustration overcome him and fries whatever annoys him with lightning bolts.
