Read a fic where Jason was a singwriter and came up with this, (I’m really bad at this sorry)
Robin 2:
You always said I was too violent for you tastes
Even when going up again Two Face
I could never make the bar
Especially when he set it up so far
I’ve come to learn a few things through the years
Given training and praise through my peers
Though they set me up to tear me down
I protected myself and came crashing down
Somewhere alone on my own
All alone, alone
I’ll always be Robin number 2
I’ll never be able to make it up to you
I won’t ever replace and fill the space
That he left when you two were through
I’ll always be Robin number 2, to you
So I see, you went and replaced me
Am I nothing more than a trophy?
Sat in a case, I know my place
How could anyone take my place
When I thought I meant so much to you
I guess we’re through
I’ve become a failure you can’t forget
A reminder, replacement, away I went
How can I forget what you did to me
Not the death thing no, letting him roam free
If he took you away
I’d hunt him down and make him pay
But apparently I’m not worth the pain
That he put me through
Taking me away from you, from you
I’ll always be Robin number 2
I’ll never be able to make it up to you
I won’t ever erase or fill the space
That he left when you two were through
I’ll always be a failure to you, I’m number 2
I finally found my place, in this estranged place
In the alley, where i give reprieve
to those who need more than you and me
The moms and dads who drink to leave
The kids who suffer from their parents greed
I’ll be what they need, they need
I’ll always be Robin number 2
Never 1 in your heart, oh that hurt me too
how badly I want that I cannot start
I can’t help but take it to heart
The shit I was put through
All for you
Replacing me with number 3
Who became so much more than you and me
It’s amazing to watch them from the dark
Knowing they’ll always have that spark
I’ll always be Robin number 2
But here I am, bigger than you
With a family made of trust and bonds
We know the pain, the fear, and beyond
So maybe to you, I’ll always be 2
But here I am, bigger than you
So I’m no longer Robin number 2
I have no need for your love, praise, or you
I made my space and protected this place
That neither of you could improve
I’m my own hero, not Robin number 2
I’m no longer Robin number 2
I have no need for your love, praise, or you
I made my space and protected this place
That neither of you could improve
I’m not Robin number 2
Willie Nelson Turns 90
There are three major milestone Williversaries to celebrate this year: Willie Nelson (b. 1933) turns 90 years old today; and 2023 also marks 50 years since his annual 4th of July Picnic and the release of his landmark 1973 album Shotgun Willie, heralding the debut of the “New Willie”: long-haired (later braided), unshaven, hippie-influenced, pot smoking, and Austin-based. ‘ Of COURSE there was…

See, they believe that an orange warms the stomach
I have been really curious as to why some songs/albums/music really blow up and get attention. I’m assuming it all comes back to money and whether or not the artist is part of a big record label who can afford to promote them.
For instance, Driver’s License by Olivia Rodrigo just blew up overnight and started breaking records. It happened so fast. And yes, that song is amazing and deserves it.
But I’m curious as to what drove that mainstream exposure and success, as that was her debut single as an artist of her own (aside from hsmtmts). Is it the song itself? Is it the promotion and money that was put behind it? Was it the following she has because of her work with Disney? I’m assuming it’s a combination of all those things. Yet I feel like some of the same artists on her label haven’t had that level of success as far as numbers and charts go. So what drove this specifically?
I hear so many amazing songs by artists that just get lost and are never really heard on such a mass scale. But they deserve to be!! And I guess it makes me sad that they don’t get the recognition they should.
I know that the internet and streaming services have made it possible for more artists to be heard. But I’m curious as to how much control the big music industry execs and labels have in today’s music scene.
