Sommartider in GT40

It’s so hard to think in a Roxette dimension now a days. Yes, things are happening, but they are not... Article like. I mean, one can’t write too much on it.

I got to hear “Sommartider” yesterday. And since Gyllene Tider will be on tour in the summers, this song just did click a bit more.

Let me tell you something strange: I didn’t like “Sommartider” when I first heard it. I probably would’ve not liked it later if it wasn’t such an important song. I still find that GT has a lot of other cool songs, this comes a little low in my list of best GT.

So, Per Gessle’s Roxette started off with “The Look” - the most important song in the history of Per Gessle! Do you think that GT will start off their tour with kick, by making the high energy mood from “Sommartider”?

Can be! You never know.

School ended for the summer today and here’s a song which reminds everyone who lives near Sweden about summer because they play it on the radio EVERY year. I’m pretty tired of it though haha. Sommartider means summertimes.

Mony Mony

I was to write about something else before I gave attention to what was coming on the radio (Hamburg zwei it is since last Monday), so that is gonna be the topic of tonight.

Billy Idol reminds me of Marie a lot sometimes. Maybe it’s his look. Maybe it’s the hair. Yeah, it’s definitely the hair.

So yeah, it was Billy Idol’s song which was coming on the radio. No, it wasn’t “eyes without a face” or “Dancing with myself”. It-waaaassssss......... “Mony Mony”. No seriously, its a pretty fun song.

But this “Mony Mony” song reminded me not of a Roxette song, but a Gyllene Tider song.

If you’re to make a list of one of the most famous songs of GT. This song would be a part of it. So you wanna know which famous song I am planning to write about right about now?

Sommartider!

The synthesisers were the main reason for the Sommartider feel. Listen to both Mony Mony and Sommartider, you’re gonna feel the resemblance too.

Ear Worms - la la-na na-sha la la la

The only song going round and round in my head is "The Chain" by Fleetwood Mac. I heard "Friday" by Rebecca Black too, but thank God that is not my ear worm tonight. Oh dear, that song had its days, the embarrassing ear worm; a song which even your conscience is embarrassed to sing to your head. And yet, it makes its place. We all have had "Friday" ear worms which we won't admit out in the open. If it's stuck in your head, it means you've heard it somewhere, and you don't want anyone to know you've heard it, even if it was not on purpose. This "Friday" and Justin Bieber's "Baby". Yeah.... (Haha, I'll take full blame if these two songs end up being your ear worms, and I apologise in advance). I Still don't know how to relate this to Roxette. OK, let me list down some potential Roxette related ear worms: - Per Gessle's "Do you wanna be my baby" - those drum beats just get into your system and even randomly at times, you'll find yourself tapping its drumbeat in your head. - Gyllene Tider's "Man blir yr" - It just has something in it. I don't know, but maybe it's the high energy of this song which make the human body admire it's awesomeness. - Gyllene Tider's "Sommartider" - obviously. - Roxette's "I call your name" - Again the drum beat and the catchy riffs. - Roxette's "Oh Marie" - this one just is too simple to absorb. It's like butter melting on freshly toasted bread. - Marie Fredriksson's "Efterstormen". The magic of Lasse Lindbom maybe? - "The Look" and "Joyride" are too main stream for Roxers, aren't they? Or let's say, these songs are like salt and pepper for us. My favourite ear worms now a days are "Första pris" and 🎵Mahi na na, Mahi na na... Mahi na na na naaa🎵 What about you?
