WE SHIP INTERNATIONALLY. ESTIMATED DELIVERY TO THE USA IS CURRENTLY 6 - 10 WORKING DAYS. A map of the United States of America made up entirely from the titles of over 1,000 songs. This vintage styled map will take you on a musical journey around the U.S. via the titles of songs that reference states, cities, rivers, mountains and landmarks. Featuring classics like Autumn in New York (Billie Holiday), Sweet Home Alabama (Lynyrd Skynyrd), Georgia On My Mind (Ray Charles), California Girls (The Beach Boys), New York, New York (Frank Sinatra), LA Woman (The Doors), Bloodbuzz Ohio (The National), Birmingham Sunday (Joan Baez), Streets of Philadelphia (Bruce Springsteen), Fake Tales of San Francisco (Arctic Monkeys), Union City Blue (Blondie), Straight Outta Compton (N.W.A), Paisley Park (Prince), Graceland (Paul Simon), Folsom Prison Blues (Johnny Cash), River Deep Mountain High (Ike and Tina Turner), Under the Bridge (Red Hot Chilli Peppers), Empire State of Mind (Jay-Z and Alicia Keys), Wichita Lineman (Glen Campbell) and Highway 61 Revisited (Bob Dylan). Some of our favourite song choices are the ones which require you to think a little harder about connections, such as Space Oddity (David Bowie) which signposts Cape Canaveral, After the Gold Rush (Neil Young) which references Sutter’s Mill, and Homecoming (Kanye West) which is placed near the rapper’s home town of Chicago. Follow our USA Song Map Playlist on Spotify - at over 900 tracks long, it offers a mere 61 hours worth of entertainment for your ears. 4 colour litho print 120gsm uncoated art paper H60 x W80cm Features A-Z key
Not exactly to do with writers or writing (except songwriting), but it’s really beautiful and clever.

Annual Festival of Outdoor Learning (22-23 February 2014)
Workshop #2: Exploring Music & Sound In The Great Outdoors - Amy Boud Part 2: Sound Maps/Songlines
We were asked to go into the outdoor environment, find a spot by ourselves that we feel drawn too, stand there for around 10 minutes and just listen. With a pencil/pen and paper, marking ourselves in the centre of the paper with an 'X' and draw images on the paper (map) of what you can here, in relation to how far away it is to you.
See my Sound Map above and below, what the numbers stand for:
A roaring brook
Tweeting birds
Laughter over the balance beam
Rustling leaves
Rustling leaves
Tractor in the distance
Banging of wood
Grass underfoot
Trees rustling in the wind
Rope straining against the tress
Wind tunnel of noise
Trees leaning on wiring, as the wind blows
How many are from nature? How many are man-made? Can you give your map to someone else and see if they can locate where you were stood?
For those in the group who had done Sound Maps before and wanted to try something different, they explored Aboriginal Songlines.
Songlines (Aboriginal)
This is something I had never heard of before and didn't have the opportunity to explore further during the workshop due to time constraints, but I have discovered some links on th internet that go into it in more depth.
