rumors were what kept the entertainment industry alive. netizens, fans and even idols alike were thirsty for them, gain would be lying if she said she never looked out for rumors mills online. who knows, she could be included in one? or she could spot a familiar story by someone close to her. either way it was a method to stay up to date with the latest changes without actually being too nosy. and it just happened that gain made the latter mistake. it was a harmless question really, a little inquiry just to quench her curiosity, no ill intentions attached. was it true sistar disbanded upon hyorin’s wish? she should have known better and yet her thoughtless tongue had gotten the best of her.
“well, alright then. it was just a question”, gain returned with a shrug, a little bit defeated but too proud to apologize.
She could count on her fingers how many times her name slipped into the press out of the blue and if such things would happen, it wouldn’t be her own browsing which would make her aware of a rumour mill. Hyojung was simply like that - not out of personal preferences but out of sheer disinterest regarding what was being said about her; true or otherwise. Sure, occasionally, she’d scroll through a couple of pages and skim read whatever seemed surprising but rarely did she pay much heed to it - even if she was not the main topic. Of course, to say she was entirely made of steel would be an exaggeration but she has her fair share of years spent as a public figure to know how things work. She attempts to not take Gain’s words to the heart but the last few days have been odd. On several occasions, she couldn’t help but feel as if she was detached from moments - a little touchy perhaps but she still attempts to level her tone when she brushes off the comment. “It all happened quickly, or so it seems, so the curiosity is understandable. But I haven’t said my word is final,” she corrects and adds a shrug. “Every decision we took, we did so together without putting more weight on someone’s opinion over the others. It was never like that. I’m just saying-” A pause, followed by a heavy sigh and another curious glance cast towards Gain’s phone, the page still opened. “That’s reported weirdly, unnie. Did you believe it? Even for a moment?”
