A rare look at the cancelled Sonic X-treme

Take a look at these never-before-seen screenshots of the cancelled Sonic X-treme, as shared by SEGA on social media Friday afternoon.

These originally-produced screenshots of the SEGA Saturn title were intended for promotion on industry magazines, just before the publisher scrapped development of X-treme in 1997.

Will we ever see ASXS? Will we see Z-Treme or Sonic X-Treme Unity rise to actually create the mouth watering physics promised to us Sega faithful nearly 20 years ago?

I'm holding out hope.

There's no fanbase on the planet as skilled or as determined as the SEGA and SONIC fans.
