I've had this in the drafts for a while. Rhythm games are my absolute favourite genre, so this has always been a dream concept to me. A rhythm game full of Sonic music?? It's a match made in heaven.
As much as I would love this to be playable, it's just something I animated in blender lol. But it's something I've put a lot of thought into. There's a full few pages in my notebook about how this game would work.

If you want to know more about this hypothetical game, I have plenty of notes on it below the cut:
- I made it a rhythm game platformer, which felt right for Sonic :)
- You play as two characters, the Frontliner and the Partner. One uses one side of the controller/keyboard, and one uses the other. Buttons and layout are changeable.
- The Frontliner's enemies and obstacles are outlined blue the Partner's are yellow, by default. This can be changed.
- You can switch these pairs to any combination of characters you want, so long as they're playable (Shadow and Cream, Tails and Knuckles, Blaze and Rouge, etc). Characters would be unlocked over the course of the game and each have a special ability.
- There's an optional two-player mode where each of you takes control of a character (like KH: Melody of Memory, but for all the songs).
- The red rings fill your special meter at the top-left. If you get three, you get a special move that doubles your score and makes you invisible for a short period.
- It's not very obvious here, but the rails are hold notes for the Frontliner.
- Since you can jump whenever you want, there could be secret routes you can jump to for players who notice them (kinda like a normal sonic game).
- Boss sections!! These are bigger enemies that stay on the right side of the screen and throw attacks at you - still on beat, but at variable speeds!
tonight on WEIRD WAREZ we finally play SONIC R which got sidelined by the infamous SPHERES OF CHAOS 2 weeks ago. not only that, but we have MCDONALDS. thats it. the installer just called it MCDONALDS but i think its called RIDE TO MCDONALDSLAND. i dunno it looks creepy. we also got HAMSTERS. and ROBIN HOOD. and HOME DEPOT CD ROM. and many many more beautiful warez to explore. as always, itll be fun, intriguing, chaotic and... weird...
