Today I went to a place to pick up a crate and I went to the door and buzzed the buzzer and a guy came to the door and said, “Hey, it’s the man with the plan!” and I just thought, well, I’m not a man and I don’t think my plan is a very good one (it wasn’t, but it worked out ok). Then he was going to put the crate in my truck and he said, “Where do you want it, Captain?” and I liked that. I’m happy to be a captain. Then I was going to leave and he called me “sir”, and I don’t like that, never have.
So my gender is either “sheriff” or “captain” (or, perhaps, “admiral”), which is slightly weird because captains (and sheriffs too, probably; admirals for sure) tend to get called “sir” a lot, but I think Captain Janeway had the right idea in not wanting to be called “sir” or “ma’am”, but just “captain”.
Anyway, he/him pronouns are still fine, I just don’t want to be a man.
