Thank you, friend! I’m confident that the results will be to my liking. One more test to go, most likely 8 months from now. The only thing remaining after that will be to travel to the chairman of our association, to train for a week or so, and see if he feels I’m ready to open my own dojo. =]
Hello new followers!
Everyone has been doing introductions lately with shaped-by-karate‘s master list of Tumblr martia artists out and about now. Since I’ve had an about me section in my blog “under construction” for forever now, I thought I’d join in and introduce myself for all the new followers and people who may not have met me yet.
I’m Marc. A 22 year old getting ready to go through more milestones in the coming summer than should be possible. I’m currently engaged after over 5 years in an on and off again long distance relationship with my best friend. We’re getting married in June. I’m graduating undergraduate college in just under a month from now and have been accepted to an osteopathic medical school which I will begin attending this coming August. If that wasn't enough, I’m applying for the US Army HPSP scholarship to fund my way through medical school and should hear back about that in a month or two. In the process of getting ready to apply to the Army, I’ve now lost 35 lb and plan to keep that up while considering some other life changes that may or may not stick (like “running” *gasp*/ It’s more of a jog). All it took was ramping up my exercise past just being active (consistent martial arts isn’t enough for my body apparently) with some diet changes.
You see, I’ve been practicing Eclectic Goju Ryu karate for 13 years now and have since picked up Medieval German Swordsmanship (which occasionally overlaps into other weapons such as sword and buckler, dagger, messer, dussak, spear, and so on) for 4 years now since I’ve been at college where a swordsmanship class and club got me started. I enjoy cross training extensively and wish I had access to pretty much any style possible, although haven’t branched out to becoming a complete member of other styles just yet. So I’m a huge karate nerd and interested in medicine, particularly anatomy and physiology. This is both my personal blog and my martial arts fanatic blog. Though it leans heavily towards martial arts.

Okay so this is something I HAVE to share. Story time: So yesterday my stepdad was sharing some story about some unfortunate kid he taught in Sunday school with the name Melissa Dick. And we we are joking and having a good chuckle about how old she was before begging to get THAT changed when suddenly in the quietest voice right beside me I hear my fiancé mutter, 'At least they didn't name her Anita Dick.'
